I still run windows 7, never upgraded to windows 8 or 8.1 since i saw no need for me to do it at that point, but i really do wanna go for windows 10 on both my main machine and my secondary, got a few questions if people dont mind answering.

1. Upgrading good enough or would a clean install be better? From what i have heard you actually should upgrade first and then do a clean install if needed, never upgraded before, but i do always prefer a clean install.

2. How is your experience with windows 10 so far? I love the look of windows 10 compared to the outdated look of windows 7, but are there any performance hits or will the performance actually be better then windows 7?

3. Have you had any problems with upgrading or doing a clean install? Reading on different forums it seems like alot of people have had problems with their keys when doing a clean install.

4. Im making a usb installer with MediaCreationToolx64, is it suppose to be extremely slow? Not in a hurry, just feels excruciatingly slow :)

1. You can upgrade and choose not to keep anything, and afterwards do a disk cleanup. Its about the same result and saves the trouble of getting the product key.

2. Windows 10 has DirectX 12 and a much faster boot time, so I guess performance (in games) and general usability would be better (although there are driver conflicts on some systems right now)

3. Im in the Windows Insider program so i had the build 10240 for around 2 weeks now, no problem upgrading whatsoever

4. Took about 10 minutes for me

I don't have Windows 10 but, this is what I have heard.

2. It's supposed/theretically better in both games and regular programs (opening programs and closing programs) and boot time is supposed ot be pretty good/fast too.

4. Seems to vary a lot. for some it takes only 15 min while for others it can take several hours.

Edit: I will wait a couple of months more so it will be more stable though.

So drivers will be updated/optimized for Windows 10 and stuff.

There are, as expected, teething problems, but if anyone expected a problem free transition, they had it coming.

I did have to do a refresh of Windows 10, only way to solve an issue I had, and then ran into the same problems as everyone else with Nvidia drivers. But it didn't take long to solve and everything works fine, bar the odd thing which I'm sure they'll fix soon.

As for performance, going from 8.1 to 10, MAYBE the start is SLIGHTLY faster than before? I love all the features as well. Cortana is actually quite useful, and I'm liking the multiple desktops. It just looks very clean.

Windows 10 is good, not bad and its free. You can did able what you don't like.

I did an update first, and it didnt like my Nvidia drivers so i got a black screen with a mouse. I just switched to the motherboard video port and then it worked. I guess you have to update the OS on your machine first THEN do a clean install.

I went to the M$ website and downloaded their windows 10 iso tool and ran it, but it also had Nvidia driver problems so I took out my gtx 980 used the iGPU and uninstalled the shitty nvidia drivers. I reinstalled good ones from the website and it all worked well. :D

Probably what im gonna end up doing, installing it on my secondary pc to get a feel for it and then doing a clean install when all the initial problems hopefully are solved.

Okay, been running the tool for 30 mins now and its 20% done, guess it just depends if you are lucky or not :(

For me it has been good but not without a few bugs here and there.

I upgraded first, this gave me quite a few issues but was usable. First clean install went bad after trying to move the users folder off my SSD after the initial install so had to reinstall again. Second clean install I moved the Users folder during the install and all worked well. Still a few issues with the taskbar and network adapters for me but other than that its good.

Doesn't seem to boot any faster than 8.1 IMHO

The only issue I have is that the AMD drivers for Windows 10 are kinda shit.  They cause a 30 second blackscreen on startup and shutdown, crippling startup and shutdown times.  Another one was the Asus Xonar sound card drivers haven't been update and the modded driver are terrible but the Windows 8 driver do work, curously the 8.1 drivers do not....
