Is the 980 ti worth

savaGe_

Looking between the gtx 980 and 980 ti if I game in 1080p would the 980ti be worth the extra 150~ or only if I plan on moving to 1440/4K .

I personally think its worth it even for 1080p, mind you I'm ocd when it comes to maxing out games and I cry because I can only JUST not max out gta5 with a 970, you never know what games in the future will bring quality wise, whats $100 now to another $900 in a few years?

Not worth it for 1080p, but neither is the 980. A 970, 390 or 390X are all better options for the money.

I have it for 1080p and maxing out msaa and other settings at 144hz is quite nice.

The 980ti is the only card above the R9 290 that makes sense to me right now. Everything else, including the GTX 980, is only a small bit better than the R9 290, yet the R9 290 can be had for $230-$240 right now, making justifying the 980's over double the price for maybe 15-20% improvement nearly impossible.

Go for the 980ti if you need the performance, R9 290 if you don't.

It's pretty pointless on 1080p, sure all games max out without issues but half of the time the 980Ti doesn't use its full power, almost never you can get it up to 100% gpu usage with 1080p resolution so if you think about it, you're just paying a lot of extra money.

But if you bump up to 1440p, it's a damn good card, it really shines on that resolution.

If the money are not a problem go for the Ti. ;)

If they are just get 970 and OC to the roof. :)

Sure, but if it's 1080p 60Hz, it's a waste of money.
