push or pull?

Go to solution Solved by 0ld_Chicken,

I used to slide a piece of paper under my radiator (so I dont blow dust all over my other pc parts/ right at the mobo) and shoot some canned air in from the outside.  will still require being removed occasionally for a really through cleaning but not very often at all.  Much less frequent than if they were pushing at least.

I should be getting my kraken X61 Tuesday. I'm wondering if there is any ease of cleaning difference or anything by setting the fans up for pull rather than push or does it matter? I figure that either way, I'd have to remove the rad to give it a proper cleaning either way, but I could be wrong.

Edit;

To be clear, I'm not asking for temps, just which would be easier to clean. It will be mounted at the top of my case

pull usually makes it easier to clean as it pulls dust through the radiator rather than pushing it up against it. Performance wise, almost identical.

Do either. It doesn't matter.

You're talking, like, a degree of difference at best.

i find things are easier to clean and need cleaning less frequently with a pull setup

edit: not using water currently but I have in the past.  same thing with blower motors and HVAC coils at work.  downdraft furnaces keep cleaner heat exchangers/coils than updraft ones since it pulls all the gunk past the radiator/coil instead of pushing gunk into it like jebkerman said.  things will still get dusty just not as quick

Wouldn't they both be the same. I mean you would generally have to take them off anyway.

That's what I was thinking too, I was just hoping that one would be easier to clean without removing rad.

Thanks

Well then it depends what side they are on... I mean you COULD do it without removing the rad but they would have to be on the right side, so you could have answered that in your own head in <2 seconds with some thought.

Sounds great. I was leaving to pull but wasn't sure if it would make a difference. Thanks. It was helpful
