Hey guys, recently my HDD started to make some noise (samples attached). Should I worry about it? I've read that clicking noise indicated that HDD dies or is dead but everything works (so far). It only starts to get noisy when its under load like e.g. in a game. I'm sorry that the sound is so quiet but my phone records in .amr and when I converted it to mp3 its quieter for some reason (couldn't attach the amr file, says I can't upload such a format). If its too quiet I'll try to figure out a way to record with something different. Thanks in advance.

The first question is.

Do you backup regularly? If not, you might want to start now.

Could just be rapid head movements. Try defragmenting the drive.

Does it makes this sound constantly or only when you do certain things?

How full is the HDD?

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
Users cannot, and will not securely manage key material. Most users can't and the ones that can, wont.

Ask me about Bitcoin, Litecoin, Crypto-Currencies, and/or Mining them.

How long have you had the drives for? If its been quite a long time since you last changed them i'd change them out of habit by now. Better to be safe than sorry.

Usually any noise coming from an HDD is a bad sign and can be the start of the drive failing.

Best thing to do is;

Download HD Tune Pro

http://www.hdtune.com/download.html

Once that is installed go into the "Health" tab. If anything is highlighted in yellow/red then you have the start of a problem/or a major problem.

1. I back up only files important files, like savegames, documents and so on

2. It makes this sound only in games from what I've noticed (and even not all, e.g. it does in Battlefield 3 but it doesn't in Skyrim and they are on the same disk)

3. Its like 90% full overall, it has 4 partitions

About 5 years probably maybe 4.

Yeah.. I would suggest changing it. The drives are quite old (in my personal opinion).

"(0A) Spin Retry Count" is highlighted in yellow. And has following values: Current 100 Worst 100 Threshold 97 Data 15
