So, this is the setup I have...

It's a Blue Yeti and I have a On-Stage Stand with a pop filter attached to it.
I also have

So whats the problem you may be asking... let me help you answer that... The foam doesn't really work. Because every time I try to make a recording it sounds like this.

Is it possible to remove some of the vibration sounds without having to get a shock mount. I'm not talking about the Cherry MX Blue or mouse clicking sound I mean purely that vibration sound. Because blue has really over priced shock mounts. 60~70 dollars for a shock mount is a hell no. I do not wish to pay that much for one. I used a laptop or notebook before so it wasn't until recently this became a issue. And yes, that squeaky chair is also something I should get rid of...

if you have a speaker lying around...

unfortunately I don't have a speaker lying around. Should I just buy some thicker foam or even suck it up and spend the ridiculous  price of 60 dollars for a shock mount?

Put the mic on a different table or stand, that should reduce most of the thumping noise. Failing that can this mic be mounted in a generic shock mount on a proper stand?

That depends on you man, I would buy the shock mount, but that's just me (I'm not into temporary fixes). If the foam is cheap enough, you could get some just to test it (at least it wont be a huge loss if it doesnt work, and you could use it on something else)

the blue yeti does not work with generic shock mounts. It is way to big.

Thanks. I am seriously considering getting the shock mount right now.

the idea of putting the mic on a table that doesnt vibrate is the best one (by mr moose)

if that works (try it, it s free) get a tripod for a more permanent instal that isn t on your desk.

Anything I write is just a comment, take is as such, there is no guarantees associated with anything I say.

Unfortunately I no longer have room on my other table.

i see a table literally 3 in away...

(where your printer is)

just move some of your stuff on your bed while you test if this solution works.

if it does, get a floor mounted tripod, if it doesn t get a shock mount.

...or get both...

If I move my mic setup there it would block the xbox & playstation. However, I do believe moving my mic setup to a different table would work.

what i am saying is that you should try it instead of supposing it would work.

it s always better to verify instead of asuming.

(it doesn t have to be a permanent setup, the mic could stay there for 15mins for testing purposes)

I guess I could. But already have a new mic arrangement setup planned. I'm thinking about mounting a scissor mount attached to my second table and then pay the ridiculous price for the shock mount.

Do you use your mic for Skype and talking in games ? How is it?

I have been thinking of getting one.

Overkill for just that, but would work great.

It's a condenser microphone, so they sound great. If you want to wait abit, I did a little write up (that goes more into the details) on microphones for the FAQ section that should be up in a few days.

I use a regular stage mic stand and swing it sideways with my mic to get rid of the vibrations of my desk.
