You might want to go with a corsair CX600(m) or any supply of 600 watts. AMD GPU's are very powerhungry, so just to be on the safe side i would do something like that.

Ive already bought it, but I am wondering

if it is enough. Like if I should take it back or.. Idk.

You can try.. But the chances of them refunding your money if it isn't enough is not super big (atleast not in the Netherlands).

I would guess your chance of succes is around 80%.

Yeah, you're fine with 500 watts :)

It's fine

R9280X-REVIEW-56.jpg

Its not. That's 400w load not to forget any other gadgets/peripherals. Running your PSU over 80% for hours every day will kill it in a year or less. Sweet spot he should aim for is about 60% at load. I'd go for a minimum of 600w here.

For your own safety, bring it back before you open it and buy 600 or 650w. I got a corsair tx750m for 4 years now. Had a lightning edition 6970, gtx 770 and soon a gtx 970 running on it. Safety is worth $10

One GPU will not got him to 600W....

Read the bottom of the graph. Total system power consumption.

Yep. Pc, ssd they all bench with a single ssd or 1 HDD, mouse and keyboard. Now add in headset, extra hdds. I personally have 3hdds+ ssd. I run a charger off the PC too.

Even if he keeps the PC like a grandpa and doesn't plug anything into it, its running 80% under load. Its a bronze PSU, not gold or plat. The max safe output could be anywhere from 480-520

Hard drives take no more then 7W from 12V. SSDs, headsets, phones, etc. take none as they use the 5V rail and are therefore practially irrelevant.

The review was done with peripherals hooked up to the system, and power consumption measured AT THE WALL which is more then what will actually be pulled from the PSU. Not to mention HC is using an overclocked 4930X which will draw much more power then a stock 4460.

More realistic power consumption in OP's case in the same scenario will be 350W MAX pulled from the actual PSU, which a CX500 is more then capable of handling, and nobody buys a PC just to run Unigine Heaven all day.

Its not supposed to. Read what I said about 60% load

He's fine on 500W. Just stop your case already...

If you really believe that exceeding 60% load for a few hours a day on a "bronze" PSU is going to lead to some catostrophic hardware failure, you've been living a lie mate
