Windows 10 App icon not showing in notifcation tray?

SO ive completely updated my Dell XPS 12, it has a genuine version of windows 8 which has been updated to 8.1 and i still cannot see the Windows 10 app in my notifcation tray so i clicked customiese tray and saw "GWX" but whenever i change it to show notifcation it pops up witha message saying that it the app is not active yet?

Anyone got any ideas as to why its saying this? and how to get the icon to show???

Are you sure your computer is fully up to date? If not let me know and there's a tool that can be used to push the W10 update.

Just download windows and update it yourself much faster.

SO ive completely updated my Dell XPS 12, it has a genuine version of windows 8 which has been updated to 8.1 and i still cannot see the Windows 10 app in my notifcation tray so i clicked customiese tray and saw "GWX" but whenever i change it to show notifcation it pops up witha message saying that it the app is not active yet?

Anyone got any ideas as to why its saying this? and how to get the icon to show???

 

Microsoft said that if you don't have the icon than you are on a "waiting list" and your upgrade "will be coming shortly" and it should appear automatically once its ready. I read somewhere that they are giving updates to older hardware PC's first.

You can also get a "manual" update by downloading their installer

Just download Windows 10 from Microsoft's site to save yourself from the hassle.

Backup your files and note down you Windows product key and you're ready to go.

Are you sure your computer is fully up to date? If not let me know and there's a tool that can be used to push the W10 update.

ahh k that does make sense as to why it would not be "active" for me yet. i guess i should prbably wait a week or two and then try and install it myself... cheers

you can just get the installer form their website. I think the automatic update was just the "easier way" but I really dont see a point, as I reserved it, but nothing happened the day it came out, so I just downloaded the installer, and upgraded manually.
