2 980Ti on a 1080p monitor? That's a bit too much, don't you think?

Go with a 1440p 144hz one.

this is gona be overkill unless your playing at 4K for quite some time

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Spoiler

How long do you think this will last (do you like the build) ?

Please know that 980ti sli at 1080p isn't worth it you definitely need a 1440p monitor

<p>Wish I could have this already!! : http://pcpartpicker.com/p/qTLRjX

Wow, dat budget tho... do you NEED 2 GTX 980TIs? Probably not, but feel free to inulge if you really have the money, just remember to be on the bleeding edge you have to be willing to bite a lot of depreciation.

I think the RM series are good powersupplies, you might also check the SuperFlower EVGA models like the Supernova 1000G2 and 1000P2.

I personally prefer the TUF series boards to the ROG boards, because of the 5 year warranty and cheaper price tag, but I often resent "gamer" marketing so that may be a personal problem but $300 for Z97 seems like a stretch for me personally, as that's X99 territory. Other than that, it looks good. Maybe check out the Samsung 850 EVO and the OCZ Arc 100, those are both faster than the Sandisk I think and the OCZ is actually cheap too.

CPU:  Intel i7-4790K      Cooler:  Noctua NH-D14     GPU: ZOTAC GTX 1070 TI MINI     Motherboard:  ASUS Z97 Gryphon     RAM:  32GB G Skill Trident X

Storage: 2x 512GB Samsung 850 EVO (RAID 0) / 2TB Seagate Barracuda     PSU: 850W EVGA SuperNova G2     Case: Fractal Design Node 804

It is a great mouse though.

Utter waste of money, it'll last a few years though.

good rig, but please get an AIO with square framed fans. Nepton 240m, Fractal S24, or buy some noctua NF-F12's for yours

Jesus this is super good my be overkill though its nice i would suggest if you have a budget like that to get 2 or 3 monitors  B)

so, to conclude things, how long do you think this will last before needing to upgrade it?

3-7 years, depends on what the next generation of grafics cards will bring to the table and if 4K becomes the new 1080p and all that :)

Well that depends on what you want it do do.

play games at 1080p (until they stop making games for that resolution), more than 60fps and maxed to nearly maxed out graphics (if i need to lower the quality of any setting to medium or so to get higher fps, will do so)

Dude if this is for 1080p 60fps you'll be good for long, even with maxed settings. You'll do fine on 144fps with that screen even on the most demanding games with those GPU's! Many years, 3-7 depending on how things develop.

If you wan't to play at 1080p don't get 980ti SLI, you are better off getting highend-ish GPU now and than replace it in 2 years, also if you have so much money to spend on PC why 1080p? You could get 60Hz 4K or 144Hz 1440p monitor and PC able to handle that for that amount for money.

That's an ambiguous question. You could use it for 10 years theoretically, but you haven't said what resolution you want to play at and what settings you would accept and what would convince you to upgrade. For 1080p gaming a single 980ti will probably continue to provide good results in 3 years or so, and 2 may still be relavant in 5 years. Keep in mind by 3 years from now, you'll probably have a couple of $150-$200 cards, so you are biting almost $500 each over their lifetime.
