Posted July 28, 2015 Lol why did you pick a SSD and a Hybrid drive? Seems like a waste of money. And yes if you are willing to spend that much this will be a very capable pc. | GPU: MSI GTX 970 | CPU: Intel i5 4460 | PSU: Sharkoon 500Watt 80-plus semi-modular | RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws 1600 2x4GB |
 Posted July 28, 2015 Unless you're using a lot of the PCI-E lanes now and in the future, the 5820k is a better buy.Why go the e5 route? Computing enthusiast. I use to be able to input a cheat code now I've got to input a credit card - Total Biscuit
 Posted July 28, 2015 Author Unless you're using a lot of the PCI-E lanes now and in the future, the 5820k is a better buy. Why go the e5 route? I was going to go with the i7 5930k but this e5 is only $20 more so I was like screw it might as well.. But I just want a future proof processor just in case I decide to upgrade my graphics cards in a year or so. Do you think this is a good idea? I'll probably add another 980 ti oc but not soon. Posted July 28, 2015 If your primary use for the machine is gaming I would not choose a Xeon | GPU: MSI GTX 970 | CPU: Intel i5 4460 | PSU: Sharkoon 500Watt 80-plus semi-modular | RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws 1600 2x4GB |
 Higher price =/= better CPU. They're both effectively the same chip with the major differences being that the 5930k can be overclocked and the Xeon supports ECC memory (which doesn't matter unless you've got a server). I'd take the 5930k even if it were more expensive than the Xeon. With the consumer grade CPU's the Xeon's lack iGPU's and are not overclockable but they are a fair bit cheaper hence it can make sense in that range but with these two CPU's choosing the Xeon makes no sense whatsoever. Edit: Good to see that you've decided on the 5930k
