Hi Chaps this is my 1st post on Linus.

I need some advise, My dad will be looking to upgrade his desktop to replace the intel i7 2660k in a few weeks time and I am currently looking to build a system also.

What im looking to build is a HTTP/ NAS system, maybe for gaming also. I was thinking saving my dad selling all the parts including the i7 2600k would it be worth me using these parts to build my new rig.

I was wondering weather to wait for the skylake release or just go for an i5 4690k.

Would appriciate any advice

Many Thanks

It's still not worth it to upgrade, the i7 2660K is still a decent processor for nowadays.

If he has a Z67 board already it's worth it as it's a good processor that overclocked could perform on the level of a i5-4590 ish. Def wait for skylake, or even zen.

http://myanimelist.net/animelist/VLRose I like anime, I'm missing at least 50 off this list.

i would just use the 2600k that you already have. there will be minimal gains my upgrading to a new i7, much less a new i5.
