i7 5820K vs i5 4690K

 

I will be doing rendering/editing/gaming.

 

But I won't do hardcore illuminati 24/7 editing rendering.

And I'll not to do one day editing and then finish.

 

They're both in my budget, but its for reducing the price.

The only difference would be the time it takes. The i5 would take about double the time to render a video but it's still not as long as you'd expect. If you need hyper-threading and want it cheap, get a Xeon.

This is not really a fair comparison, the 5820k is like 2 times more expensive, not counting the extra price of x99 mobo's and ddr4 memory.

The 5820k will be considerably faster, have more PCIe lanes and more sata connectors, etc...

 

Its up to you if those features/speed are worth it.

theres quite a bunch out there with an igpu, but they dont differ *that* much in price from their desktop parts.

Nope on the performance. IPC won't have improved that much. A 8 thread xeon can be had for the same price as the i5

No major big advantage just get i7-4790K! or non-k if you will not OC!

2011 socket is newer but the 1150 socket is more value for your cash!
