Which i5 do I need?

Hey all, ordering new parts soon, here's the deal. I am upgrading my board to an AsRock H81M-ITX and my case to an SG05. I don't need to overclock, and if I do I can mess with the base clock. Which i5 is right for me? I was considering the 4590 but the 4460 is much cheaper. Which would be the best option for me, and what are the differences between the one you choose and the 4690K? Thanks!

For no OC get the 4460.

A 4460 will do just fine and honest to be beside oc there's not much difference in terms of performance between all of those.

But what game ya play that need a upgrade from FX-6300 to a i5-4460?

A 4460 will do just fine and honest to be beside oc there's not much difference in terms of performance between all of those.

Although if you want you could get the 4690K now if you change your mind in the future about overclocking, then all you would need to do is get a Z97 board, actually its not too bad an idea since the 4690K only costs a little bit more than a 4440/4460.

ARMA II/DayZ, BF3, BF4, CoD WaW, some others. I also will be doing a little CAD work for school. It's mainly an upgrade just because it's better and can handle the future GTX 970/980 I'm going to throw in.

Just to note I have the same motherboard and USB 3.0 is not supported on the front ports. Also, it has pci express 2.0 16x but this is not really an issue but, for a few bucks more I would get this b85 motherboard from asrock instead:

Double the price for even the cheapest Z97 mITX board. Honestly I don't really want to overclock since it's already such a small chassis.

No games, But AMD CPUs are old. with Intel you have the option of upgrading from i3 -> i5 -> i7.

FX + Arma = Bad! / DayZ it can handle since its not as much going on but still not better than i5, still for Arma I vote i7-4790.

Well not random, I just wanted more performance and the GTX 760 is about as high as I can go with the FX processor. The i5 will handle a GTX 970, plus I can compete with my friend's system while mine is smaller (shallow I know lol).

Actually a FX can be paired with a 280X just fine or maybe a 290/970 but that is pushing it.
