Hi guys,

My modem is my cable box, which is located downstairs.  We have currently one wire running from the router (Right by the modem) into my room.  There is no possible way to run another wire, as all the wiring was done BEFORE the basement was made, and unfortunately it is a ceiling basement (No panels to easily access the wires to add another one)

On top of that, it would just be a headache to do that.

My problem is that my Mac needs a direct connection for gaming.

There is no room near the router to do so, and my room is the "gaming room"

So a logical and valid response would be to move the router to my room, using that one wire from modem to router, then setting up direct conenctions

however, my parents have an apple TV and our receiver requires a direct connection as well, so a router is needed there.

So basically, I need a way to get a direct connection in my room

I was thinking to just buy another router, but maybe there is a cheaper solution

I stumbled upon this : http://www.amazon.ca/eForCity-257944-Ethernet-Splitter-Connector/dp/B003C2QS90

Would this work?  The wire that comes into my room could be split into 2, one for my PC and one for my mac.

Note: I've tried using one of those power line adapters but they are extremely slow.

Sorry if this thread is a cluster**** of random information lol.

Main PC: 4690k // Z97 // R9 280 3GB // 8gb Ram // CM Elite 430 Case // 750 EVGA B PSU // 1TB HDD

Living Room "Console" PC: FX 8350 // 990a SLI Krait // R7 360 // 8gb Ram // HAF 912 // 750 EVGA B PSU // 1TB HDD

Future Plans:

find a 2nd monitor at a pawn shop

Sell/giveaway R7 360, move r9 280 into console PC, buy a better GPU for main PC.
