So I have this really bad computer right now. Hopefully soon I will get a job to save up to build a new amazing computer from scratch. The current computer will have Windows 10. How would I be able to get Windows 10 on the new computer (Sidenote: the new computer is expected to be built some time before the first year is off)? I have my Windows 7 HP disk with the product code, would I install 7 and then upgrade from there?

I'm one of those people who makes those bass music things.

The Windows license for your current computer (I'm assuming that the HP is your current computer) is tied to said computer. You'd most likely need to purchase a Windows 10 license, or purchase 8.1 now, and upgrade later (If you plan to build within the free year upgrade timeframe.

Are you wanting to transfer windows from the old computer to the 'to be built' new pc? If so you can move your licence from one pc to another by calling microsoft support and de-registering your key from the old pc, allowing it to be used on the new pc (might be different with an hp key).

If you are wanting to use the windows 7 disk to install a new OS on the new pc, you can simply buy a windows 7 key from r/microsoftsoftwareswap for the particular version you have, and once installed upgrade to win 10 for free (within the first year after release).

Do you mean Home Premium with HP? Or Hewlett-Packard? If first, what license it is? OEMs are most times tied to mobo and can't be reused. If it's retail key, you can use it with new build.!

OEM keys can be reused you just need to extract it. But OEM keys can't be used to download the iso from windows you'd need an iso from another source(checking the SHA1 hash of the file should be enough to confirm its integrity) or you could just use the generic keys provided by microsoft.

Do remember using the generic keys will allow you to install windows but will not activate it. You'd need to activate it by using the OEM key you've extracted.

I know they can be reused. It just that reusing OEM on another mobo is against OEM license and @GoodBytes becomes very angry if we start to tell how to misuse the license.
