I have a AX760, but it has loud coil whine. I have heard many people say that most EVGA g2 supernova units do not have coil whine, for those who have it is this true? How is your unit? Does yours have coil whine? And most importantly is yours silent when in idle/browsing/youtube?

It's manufacturing consistency yo. It's very unlikely that you'll have it but if you do then you're just unlucky :/

I can attest that the G2 is made amazingly but you can save money and get the B2 instead.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.

Its ok if I get the G2 I will save 50 euros because the AX760 was 170 euros and the G2 is 120 euros here, and I am still able to return it due to amazons awesome 1 month return thingy. Is ur g2 silent when browsing btw? Is the fan running at all?

Proud G2 owner here, no coil whine to complain about. I have it on eco mode and actually don't hear it at all.

The Entire GXX/BXX/SXX/PXX anything from EVGA besides the G1 and the 500/600B has a super quiet fan. I have a 550W GS series myself (totally different PSU than the G2 but both are superb and use the same basic concept for the fan) and cannot hear it. I have a low-power system (i3 4360 and 7770 GHz) and the fan only comes on when the PSU is 25% under load so I never hear it. However I have run it in "fan-on 100% all the time mode" and the thing is impossible to hear without putting your ear up to the case.

EDIT: Should point out that the G2 has a bigger fan from what I can see so it should be even more quiet than my fan.

I guess you are talking about the 750 G2? I bought one recently, it's amazing. Nice cables, awesome quality, no coil whine, no complaints at all actually. You can choose between eco mode on/off with a simple switch on the back, if eco is on the fan won't turn until it hits a temperature threshold. But I can't even hear it with eco mode off, so yeah...

Nah AX actually has a reputation for having coil whine issues

If anything, both

If anything, I do not pay much attention to overpriced PSUs so I'm banking on your knowing this stuff :P

@ has an AX-series (Seasonic) which has never had coil whine so I guess he got lucky, though I know one PSU without coil whine isn't a demonstration of the whole run of AXs.

Too bad they both have coil whine though :/

I don't remember if it was AX or AXi where it was more prominent, but I've heard lots of coil whine stories for both. My friend also has an AX860 without coil whine but eh

I generally avoid recommending Corsair PSUs in general but I'll keep this at the back of my head (and also included in the PSU whitelist).

I don't think it's that big of an issue, for me it'd just be that I would be expecting better then that from such an expensive PSU, and competing options from the likes of EVGA don't have as much coil whine

A silence freak like myself must have the quietest of the PSUs, especially considering that I plan to one day use open headphones and cannot stand any noise coming from the PC. I already hate how loud the Arctic Freezer 7 in there is and it's among some of the quieter CPU coolers for a cheap price out there :/

The only thing that was bothering me about my PC noise was the hard drive so I switched that out and now it's pretty damn quiet for what it is. You'd be surprised how quiet laptop drives used in a desktop are.

That is actually why I use a 1TB laptop drive for storage (totally not because it was given to me for free or anything of that nonsensical nature) xD

But yeah, they are very quiet. Loudest thing in my system is that Freezer with the Cooler Master Sleeve fan actually being the second loudest.

Mine runs pretty damn silent, even with the fan on, probably the quietest component with a moving part in my entire PC by a bit of a margin.
