$1100 dollar Gaming PC build. Need some advice.

Hi,

I am planning on building a ~ 1100 dollar (~ 1000 euros) Gaming PC.

I already have a 1080p monitor along with all the peripherals needed.

I live in France, topachat.com is the site trough which I would like to get my parts.

Here's a vague idea of the setup:

CPU: Intel Core i5 (one that would not bottleneck the graphics card)

Motherboard: The cheapest 2-way SLI capable motherboard (for upgradability) (if not possible a bare bones motherboard with basic functionality)

Memory: Any DDR3, 2 x 4 Go kit

Graphics card: GTX 970 (I am unsure which version to buy)

SSD : Highest Gb/dollar SSDWifi card

Case : Cheapest bare bones case (featuring dust filters and basic cable management...)

Power supply : ~ 650W (for upgradability)

Here's a config that could do the job :

http://www.topachat.com/pages/configomatic.php?c=m4a9OIB5Q%2BJTAfQMfiOLC89OWzMEvr3Nb6acWXxgtJs%3D

CPU : Intel Core i5-4590 (3.3 GHz)

Motherboard : MSI Z97S SLI Krait Edition

Memory : DDR3 Crucial Ballistix Sport, 2 x 4 Go, 1600 MHz, CAS 9

Graphics card : Gainward GeForce GTX 970 Phantom, 4 Go

SSD : Kingston Now V300, 120 Go, SATA III

Wifi card : TP-Link TL-WN881ND

Case : Zalman Z1 (I am unsure about this case)

Power supply : Cooler Master G650M, 650W

What do you think of this setup ?

Is the Zalman Z1 a good enough case ?

Which version of the GTX 970 should I buy ?

The Kingston now V300 has low grade slow flash. Anything else but that. Try a crucial ssd.

The fans are inside the heatsink? The fuq? Never even heard of this card. Or brand. Don't know about reliability or cooling performance. But, the fans are INSIDE the heatsink. Wut? I ca- I can't even.

The amount of fanboyism is strong with this one.

Gigabyte is not the only company in the world that makes good GPUs. Corsair and Fractal are also not the only people who make good cases.

Maybe suggest that these are reliable companies other than listing them off as the only option. You seemed kinda blunt in your reply.

He has $1100 to spend. I'd use that extra money on a 980. Or an i7 if he does productivity. And probably a better case. That case is a nice budget case, but not so good for this pricepoint.

you have a choice between a 970 and a r9 390(x)  ...

also get another ssd cuz that ssd is pretty slow.

reguarding your case ... fractal is a good place too look.

Well i took into consideration that he maybe doesn't have access to all the stores and sales that pcpartpicker finds.

He lives in Europe after all and uses 1 website for his build for what we know.

Well, in that case, the site that he uses might not even carry those parts. They might not even carry computer parts at all. They might only sell triangles. Oh, crap. He's shopping at the official Illuminati shop for exclusive Illuminati members only.

Okay, thanks to all for your answers.

So, I made some modifications to the config :

http://www.topachat.com/pages/configomatic.php?c=ll%2BS0KkoseCC4UoC9KI6bCDOs9EZuDYyLzcehR10fus%3D

CPU : Intel Core i5-4690K (3.5 GHz)

Motherboard : MSI Z97S SLI Krait Edition

Memory : DDR3 Crucial Ballistix Sport, 2 x 4 Go, 1600 MHz, CAS 9

Graphics card : Gigabyte GeForce GTX 970 Windforce 3, 4 Go

SSD : None or Corsair Force LS, 60 Go, SATA III

Wifi card : TP-Link TL-WN881ND

Case : Fractal Design Core 2500

Power supply : Cooler Master G650M, 650W

Is the Corsair Force LS good ? If not, I will likely repurpose my Crucial M550 500 Go SSD because I don't want to exceed my budget. Anyway, the SSD will be coupled with an 1 To HDD.

For now I think will not get a CPU cooler because I don't plan on overclocking yet. (but I will likely get one in the future)

Is the PC building option priced at ~$44 worth it?

Yeah, aint bad price but that is cash you can save by building yourself.

If you want to spend that cash or not is up to you.
