Drive c is full :(

Go to solution Solved by dalekphalm,

hello guys

i have 2 drivers drive C that have the windows installed and drive E for games, files, etc

but my drive C is full but if i buy a new driver can i but the space of the new driver to drive C ?

If I understand you correctly, you're saying that you currently have two HDD's in your computer:

C: Drive, which is almost full, and E: Drive, for games and documents.

What you want to do, is buy a new HDD, and replace the C: Drive on it. Correct?

If so, then yes, that is totally possible.

What you'll want to do is "Clone" the C: Drive HDD onto the new HDD. The process can be done using numerous free pieces of software.

I Suggest EaseUS ToDo Free backup cloning tool (very easy to use), or something like CloneZilla (More difficult to use though).

You'll need to download the appropriate program, and create a bootable CD or USB stick.

Time to start deleting to clear space for Drive C

it 120 GB SSD

System restore and recycle bin reserves some of that for themselves, reduce the amount you want for system restore and recycle bin.

Run disk clean up

Look through each folder to see what taking up all of the space, you can use a program like WinDirStat to help you out.

Download and run this program:

Then, never worry about finding what files are using all your HDD space ever again.

Totally forgot about that one

Have a similar setup as you 120GB SSD for C and rest of programs and files on another drive. C driver barely reaches 50GB of usage. Use space sniffer and see what is hogging your C drive. Had to work on a system where C drive was 1TB and a few days later drive was full. Look through each folder and found a hidden temp file eating up the entire drive.

Yes. If you currently have a 120GB SSD, you'll want to replace it with a bigger SSD. Do not replace your boot drive with a HDD.

You'll want to download and configure the Drive Cloning software:

http://www.easeus.com/disk-copy/index.htm

Download "Disk-Copy Home", which is the free edition. Here is a direct link:

http://download.easeus.com/free/EaseUS_DiskCopy_Home.exe

Run that setup file, and create a bootable USB stick. You will need a spare USB stick to do this. I recommend a 4GB+ one, but a smaller one should work too.

Once the setup has created the bootable USB stick, what you'll want to do is the following:

1. Install the new SSD into your computer with a spare SATA Cable.

2. DISCONNECT your HDD (Drive E:) from the motherboard (just unplug the SATA cable from the HDD)

3. turn on the PC, and boot into the "Boot Selection Menu" of your motherboard. You usually do this by hitting ESC or F12 or F10 when the computer POST's (the first few seconds of when it turns on). The specific key will depend on the make and model of your motherboard.

4. Select USB Drive/Disk whatever, from the Boot Menu, and boot into the USB Stick that we created earlier.

Once the USB Stick has loaded, you will just go through the steps, selecting the 120GB SSD as your "Source", and the larger, newer SSD as your "Destination". The software should be able to identify the model number for each SSD to help pick the right one.

Here is an example guide:

https://linhost.info/2012/05/cloning-a-drive-with-easeus-disc-copy-simple-cloning-utility/

Once you've completed the cloning, you will want to shut the PC off, fully remove the old SSD, plugging the SATA cable from the old SSD into the new one. Then reattach the HDD (plug it's SATA cable back in), and remove any extra SATA cables you may have used.

Finally, turn the PC back on and see if it worked. If all is successful, then you should just boot into Windows, as you normally do.

ok i will give it a try right now :)

guys plz this is last thing and thanks so much for helping me can u see this video if it real and the video is legit

I would avoid that particular software, because it starts the cloning process while you're in Windows, which can cause issues. The software I linked above is better, since it runs off a Bootable USB Stick, as it's own Mini Operating System.
