Help Starting Youtube

Hi, I want to start a tech channel similar to Linus' but a mix between his and JayzTwoCents' channel. I would like to know three things, 1)What should my name be as I am out of ideas. PS:My name is Nick. 2)What camera should I get. I have an Iphone 5S and was thinking about just using that for the start but I am not sure. I would not like to spend too much money on a new camera. under $100 but the cheaper, the better. And 3)Which microphone should I use. I could use the one in my phone but it's pretty shitty. And I have Turtle Beach X12s that have an okay mic but it is nothing amazing. I could borrow/buy my friends Blue Snowball because the voice quality is a hell of a lot better than my headset. Again, I would like to spend as little as possible but I am willing to go up to about $100. I have a pretty good rig for editing and I have the software I would need to edit videos. Also note, I am only doing this as a hobby. I do not plan to "make it big" like Linus did. I simply want something to do in my spare time and want to put my computer to better use as I have not been in the mood for gaming lately. Thanks a lot! :D

You won't get any views using an iPhone to record, it will look unprofessional.

Alright, ignoring the troll posts...

If you're wanting to go under $100, you don't have much real options. I'd recommend using your iPhone until you get the hang of it and are sure that's what you want to do.

Also, the Blue Snowball is a desktop mic, not really an on-camera mic.

That being said... you could get a solid 1080p webcam for under $100 and use that mic and go that route to start. Here are some good options.

Technick (mentioned above) is a great name idea.

I will definitely look into the mics if I can't use my friends and I will take a good look at the camera. As for the name, it is simple but I actually like it a lot. Thanks!

Thank you for giving me a legitimate answer. I would thinking use the Blue Snowball to just either record next to the camera while I am going or record it separately and just show the product the whole video and put my audio over it. I will make sure to check out the cameras later! And lastly, I like that name too!

If you want to do them how linus does them where he is on camera doing stuff, you're gonna wanna get something like this: http://www.amazon.com/Audio-Technica-ATR-3350-Omnidirectional-Condenser-Microphone/dp/B002HJ9PTO instead of a desktop mic. (For the specific one I linked, you'd clip it on your shirt and use it like that.) or you are gonna want a mic like this: http://www.amazon.com/Rode-VideoMic-VMP-Shotgun-Microphone/dp/B004K8WPUQ/ref=sr_1_2?s=musical-instruments (except you can probs find a cheaper one that will do a plenty good job as well, this one would be attached to the top of a camera and then the 3.5mm connector would be plugged into the camera)

Specs: CPU - Intel i7 8700K @ 5GHz | GPU - Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming | Motherboard - ASUS Strix Z370-G WIFI AC | RAM - XPG Gammix DDR4-3000MHz 32GB (2x16GB) | Main Drive - Samsung 850 Evo 500GB M.2 | Other Drives - 7TB/3 Drives | CPU Cooler - Corsair H100i Pro | Case - Fractal Design Define C Mini TG | Power Supply - EVGA G3 850W

Thank you for clearing up my stupid little brain. I would definitely want one of those clip-on mics. Thanks! PS: not supposed to be sarcastic at all, sorry if it sounded like it

First of all. TechNick is taken. My name is nick and I tried TechNick so I went with KingAceves because my last name is aceves.

Second, I would invest more in a mic than a camera because like how JayzTwoCents used to do some commentating so you just hear his voice and watch some BF4 or something

Keep in mind that any "taken" name is subjective - as long as there's not already a big YouTuber going by "TechNick," then you still can. Normal YouTube usernames are no longer available, so you can simply make your display name in Google+ "TechNick" (or whatever you want) and run with it.

You'd simply just want to avoid names that large YouTubers already use.
