Problem with unpacking RARs

effeKtSVK

Hello! I have strange problem. On my mom's PC I'm not able to unpack absolutely any .rar file. There's still "checksum error" or "packed data checksum error" on every .rar file. But that worse part about this problem is that it is happening a long time. This PC was reinstalled atleast 5 times and it doesn't matter if I try to unpack in Windows 8.1, Win 7. Still doesn't work. I think it can be because of that CPU, and I'm curious why it's not on AMD's website

Here's some more info if you need it:

CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 960T Black Edition

MB: ASRock M3A770DE

GPU: ATI Radeon HD 5670

CPU-Z Report: http://pastebin.com/iQK910eF

I'm going to try it but I don't think it would help because I already used ALZip and WinRAR, both of them are not working.

If checksums error appear, it's likely something is corrupting bits of data.

Any chance you know what it could be? This might be a case because when I reinstall Windows there are other HDDs which are not formated during reinstall because I store data there...

Usually things like this are caused by bad RAM. Try running MemTest86, found here:  http://www.memtest86.com/

Possibility of bad internet? If files aren't fully downloaded.

Speed and reliability aren't same thing. It could also be browser not finishing dl completely. This is sometimes problem when source connection is bad.

But to the point. If it does that with all files regardless of origin, them it isn't network issue.

This is happening for almost year now... It can be even .rar I created on another computer on my network and when I transfer it is not possible to unpack it. And it seems like it does mess up file aswell... Yesterday I transfered file after unsuccessful attempt to unpack to my other computer and it showed same error even on my PC.

I'm starting to get feeling this could be HDD issue. It can't really be software issue because of reinstalls.
