I'm starting to feel like I should throw my brother's laptop with that huge battery budge......

Remove the battery carefully (if you can) and take it to a special battery disposal place (so it doesn't explode in a landfill), otherwise take it to a specialist or something and have them remove it

Lol, It's a raid card. the battery is there so if power is lost, the system has time to safely finish writing data to the drives and then shut them down.
