My sister has been cleaning her macbook screen with WINDEX for a while now... I didn't know about it, though, until now.

 

I was playing Witcher 3, talking to my friend on TeamSpeak, and she comes in my room, all sad, and I see that her screen had a bunch of white/pink lines on it (looked like she punched it or something).

 

I asked her:"What the fuck did you do?" and she said she put some Windex this morning

Now she put the laptop lying on her monitor, on a baking pan and covered it with rice. Told her to force shut it down (hopefully she did, when she clicks on the touchpad nothing happens so either the laptop died or she shut it down, hopefully the former).

 

It's in her room right now, exposed to direct sunlight (even though there's rice covering the screen). Told her to leave it until Wednesday (5 days) like that.

 

 

Called my dad (who payed for the laptop), told him the story, passed the phone to my sister, and she explained to him what happened, and he thinks it's because of overheating. My sister said that before she closed her laptop (put it to sleep) she was playing Sims 3 and then she supposedly closed it and watched a movie. Apparently her laptop got really hot.

 

 

Anyway, what do you guys think happened? Windex damaged the internal components or overheating?

When I clean my monitor, I use a extremely damp paper towel and a dry paper towel, the dampened one with water :P Not like dripping however, and then I repeat the processess until I can get my entire monitor clean :P  

 

 Yeah, the windex possibly killed her macbook.

 

What type of Macbook is it anyway, model, year?
