If you want a high end 1440 monitor for professional use, then get the LG34UM95. I have one myself.
The only problem: It is expensive... x.x

Anyway. I would tke the Asus, simply because it has a true IPS panel and 100% sRGB. :3

And yes, a 980 can handle 1440p. Not everything at max but it does fairly well.

I work with dual 980s which work really well on 3440x1440.

So I think dual 970 should do well on 2560x1440 ;)

It's a Korean monitor.

Short story: Lots of LCD panels are made in Korea by Samsung or LG (or a few other companies). Sometimes these panels are sold directly by the manufacturer like LG and sometimes they are sold to another company that rebrands the panels like Benq. Usually the monitors are sold at a huge markup. The off-brand Korean monitors use the exact same panels everyone else gets but sell the monitors at a fraction of the cost.

Check out tek syndicate on youtube for reviews and likewise overclock.net forums monitor section.

Dell, it looks better.

I mean if you can get two R9 290X's that might be better for some games...

Basically because I really want to play some games that were optimised for consoles and therefore prefer AMD's chips. Which is why I wished that AMD would skip HBM1 since it only allows for 4GB it seems and go directly for HBM2 like Nvidia because it can support more than 4GB but less than 8GB (iirc).

Hopefully AMD will cure their high TDP with Greenland and Arctic Islands. However, I don't think the Fury name will carry on into Greenland, Greenland Pro will probably be the 490 (6GB vram) and Greenland XT will be the 490X (8GB Vram)

Maybe the 480X and lower will be Iceland (since it sort of is Arctic Island (or atleast close enough), or it could be some Canadian arctic island.)

*Edit note: Maybe AMD has already used Iceland for this years line up.

He already said he doesn't want a 34" ultrawide and that the LG34UM95 was too pricey, so why suggest 3 monitors that 1) aren't released yet, 2) will cost more, 3) are 34" Ultrawides?

Cuz he wanted to know which are the BEST 1440p monitors. These 3 are. And maybe he should reconsider, cuz it seems like gaming is a priority to him with a 980ti and a 1100$ budget for a monitor. If gaming is a priority, there is nothing more enjoyable than the 3 monitors i linked. Anyone who has actually tried a 3440x1440 monitor will agree without hesitation.

You can feel good about yourself by finishing peoples sentences / telling them exactly what they want to hear. A robot can do what you do.

I will, however, say what they NEED to hear and challenge their preconceived notions.

Hope that answers your question.

See now why didn't you make a post explaining the benefits instead of just listing 3 random monitors? That could have actually been helpful to the original poster instead of just helping your post count  :)

The least you could have done was advise him they aren't even out yet lool

Like I said some games do prefer AMD's desktop cards because of the similarity to their console counter parts.

Of course that's only games that are PC ports.
