So ive been looking on ebay at GTX 690's and all of them are priced around $300-$400, which is 1/3 of the original price. Has something happened to the 690 that makes it obsolete or are these just scammers getting money for a broken card?

It's an old and used card? People want the new stuff, making the old stuff go down in price.

pretty sure it's 4GB as newegg says it's 4GB so it must be 4GB per card, right?

Anyway, I reckon the 690 had stuttering issues aswell as heat issues, but don't quote me on that. Research it yourself.

It only has 2GB of RAM which is a too little these days and SLI support has kinda... faded away

It has 2GB EFFECTIVE vram, because each GPU needs it's own so it has 4 in total but only 2 can be used.

2gb per gpu = 2gb usable due to the way sli works. I really wish they never muddied how the vram works on dual gpu cards

Yes, it's 4GB per card, but you have two GPUs. 4GB divided by 2 GPUs gives you 2GB per GPU.

They don't really beat titan black and 980, only in games that scale perfectly which don't exist. And it's only got 2gb of vram. I don't think more than 200 for one is reasonable at this point.

It takes 960 sli to match the performance of a single 970. The vram "issue" isn't even an issue for most 970 owners. Unless you plan on playing at 4k, in which case the 960 would be woefully inadequate, then the vram problem wouldn't be a problem.

nvidia fixed the situations when the vram would go over 3.5gb through drivers
