Headphones around $200 (USD)

AMICLG

I'm looking for a pair of head phones around the $200 (USD) price point, I don't really want to go over but if it's like $20-$30 more I'll do it.  I listen to a lot of metal, some classical, and watch a decent amount of movies. I'm using the HD 518 right now, if this helps at all.

The requirements are:

  • Open design is a must.
  • Detectable cable is really wanted but I'd be willing to compromise....
  • It's not a necessity but I'd like to stay away from the bars that hold the headband, like the AKG 701.
  • They need to be able to be powered by a FiiO E10K, not buying a high end AMP/DAC at this time.

Also if any of you high end headphone users have a used pair you'd be willing to part that fit this criteria/price I'll go that route as well.

 Many thanks, Adam.

I'm going for the DT 880 Pro 250 OHM, they have the sound I'm looking for and fit the budget. Thanks all for your help.

I'd go for a used Philips Fidelio X1 or X2.

These look great but the non removable cups and bungee headband are a deal breaker for me.

Beyerdynamic dt990 is very good if you can get them used a pair of hd600 are very good as well.

Good choice, DT880 is really good with guitar and all those instruments.

For removable cable, there are people who could do modification for you and give removable cable termination for DT880
