~$800 Canadian Build

1. Budget & Location

My Budget is about $800 Canadian, and I live in Ontario,Canada

2. Aim

I plan on a gaming pc and just basic use. I would also like to eventually run BF4 at about Ultra at 60ish fps.

3. Monitors

I plan on running a single 1080p monitor, but I might buy another monitor in like 2 years.

4. Peripherals

I do not need Mouse, Keyboard, Monitor and OS

5. Why are you upgrading?

My laptop is garbage now. It's a Dell Inspiron 1501

I also do not need a Sound Card, You do not need to include a SSD in the build because I have a Samsung 840 120gb SSD

Isn't the FX-8350 better since more games are going multithreading with the advent of the new consoles?

Well based on linus' benchmarks of crysis 3, it does benefit when there's explosions. So I'm guessing an 8350 would be best if this guy wants to play BF4 at ultra.

What do you prefer, ncix or newegg.ca?

Ncix.ca because I'm eventually gonna price match parts and order everything from ncix

If you want to run battlefield 4 on ultra and run 60 FPS you are going to need at least a 770 so have a look at this config:

http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/1m1lI

I know it is a litlle more expensive than the 800 dollar buget but this will ENSURE that you can play BF4 on the desired settings

If you want to do AMD you might aswell wait for the new 9970 , only problem we don't know when it's going to come out...

If you want to build the system within a month or 2 i would really suggest my config since the 770 outperforms the 7970

Ahh I never noticed.

For gaming, the 7970 is a much cheaper option that is neck to neck with the 770.

LOL 7970 fought with 670 and didnt nearly scratch 680.

It was te 7970 GHZ edition which costs more that actually beat 680, but it's worse than 770 (680 on steroids). And 7970 Ghz edition costs significantly more than 770 :)

So... If Jesus had the gold, would he buy himself out instead of waiting 3 days for the respawn?

CPU: Phenom II x6 1045t ][ GPU: GeForce 9600GT 512mb DDR3 ][ Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-MA770T-UD3P ][ RAM: 2x4GB Kingston 1333MHz CL9 DDR3 ][ HDD: Western Digital Green 2TB ][ PSU: Chieftec 500AB A ][ Case: No-name without airflow or dust filters Budget saved for an upgrade so far: 2400PLN (600€) - Initial 2800PLN (700€) Upgraded already: CPU

It's funny cause it's like you're me. I live in Ontario, and I built an $800 PC last week for 1080p gaming. Anyways, this is what I bought.

http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/1ma86

It's a sick build maxes out EVERYTHING. BF4 will be no problem. If you overclock that 7950 is will preform better than a GTX 770 overclocked. Which is insane considering the 100 dollar difference. I know it's over budget. It's becuase I did not need an HDD with my build. But I guarantee you that this build will be outstanding.

That FX processor won't do you any good so sadly you may find yourself in a CPU bottleneck in future games. Just saying :)

What's wrong with the processor? The 8320 is a lower clock 8350 and is not binned as high that is all, you can still overclock it to perform as well as a stock 8350 which will not bottleneck the system.

My rig: i7 930 oc to 3.4 ghz, GA-X58A-UD3R, 6GB of ocz ram, antec nine hundred two, seasonic g 650, gigabyte 7970 OC, 120 GB Samsung 840, 1TB Seagate barracuda. Cm storm trigger mx browns and a steelseries sensei raw.

Yes it will, check some videos, FX processors are slower on 1 core performance than old Phenom IIs :D

They need to be so high clocked and even then they draw soooo much power and perform still worse than an i5 in games. (not to mention heat output when you overclock FX)

And yes they do bottleneck in games :)

Especially with Radeons. GeForce is better with AMD processors because it uses drivers for multiple threads.

Have you seen linus compare the 8350 vs the 3570k? Both are only moderately overclocked

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uD6UcsVG56g

but by your definition the top end i5 will bottleneck a pc. There is no performance gain between using a nvidia or radeon graphics card with an intel or amd processor. A 8320 should be able to get at least stock turbo speeds of the 8350 unless you are really unlucky which could be the case for any cpu whether that be amd or intel it's all about the silicone lottery.

Edit: I do realise that the 8320 and 8350 do not perform as well as the i5 on single core operation but when it comes to process that can utilise the additional "cores" amd will pull out ahead.
