Weird Problem with PC

Go to solution Solved by Hans Christian | Teri,

Does it just cut completely? Like show no blue screen etc? In that case it's most likely your PSU that's faulty, I had the same problem. Borrow another PSU from a friend or buy a cheap one (Like a Corsair CX750, it's always good to have an extra PSU around) and see if that fixes your problem.

So I set up a PC like 2 months ago and I encountered a problem where my computer would just randomly shut down and everytime I turn it on again it would light up for 2-3 seconds and just shut down again. I brought the motherboard to the shop I bought it from and when they turned it on it worked but it said the Bios was corrupt. So they gave me a replacement motherboard. Right now the same thing happened again.

I am not sure what the problem is. Is it my power supply?  Seasonic 620w Bronze

Is it faulty or cant handle the amount of load im giving it.

These are my PC specs and everything plugged into it.

1 140mm fan.

1TB Hard Drive

Sapphire Radeon 7950 3GB Overclocked at 1030 and 1500

In amd overdrive I put a +20 for the power so that the card wont have power limitations.

Extra PCI USB Slots 3.0

Your PSU should be able to handle those components, but it may be damaged. First off i would try running everything at stock speeds, then try switching out the PSU completely, do you have another one you can test with?

Also you could try only using 1 RAM stick in different slots to see if that's causing the issue.

What kind off errors do you see in event log? This might help to determine where u have to look for errors.

Run some basic tools like memtest 86+ and post if there are anny the critical event log errors :P

I agree try running mem test for a while because if it's not your motherboard and your psu looks like it should be fine then it could well be a ram error

look at the event log stuff like this can be caused by annything.

Drivers (software) hardware like ram PSU or whatever.

U need to start narowing down what it could be so run some test check event log or use something like blue screen vieuwer.

report back whatever u find and we might be able to tell u where to look.

I was having a similar error with a gigabyte motherboard, and turn out to be the memory, it would fail every time I tried to make it run at 1600 Mhz, but at 1333 it never fail, so I just leave it at the standard speed and haven't had the bios corrupt error again.

Mystery is the source of all true science.

The PSU should be powerfull enough to handle that system. Do you have the option of trying the PSU in another computer or another PSU in your computer? Also have you updated the bios lately?

I had a similar problem and it turns out my BIOS was corrupt.  Try flashing the BIOS.

My components were all cool. They were all under 40* C. How would I flash the bios with this mobo?

Try and look in the manuel that came with the motherboard. It should say something about switching from the primary to the secondary bios chip.
