Hello everyone, I will introduce myself real quick. My name is Southpaw, and as of yesterday, I sold my Xbox one to join the PCMR. I found a local deal that is an i7 3930k, an Asus Rampage IV Extreme board, and 16gb or coraair vengeance 1600mhz ram for $400. I am going to take the deal, but I was wondering what everyone's thought on having a 3930k as a first CPU is? I will probably also be purchasing a GTX 780 from the same guy for $200. I know I have a good start, but I am wondering what PSU, CPU cooler, and what case would work the best? I already have a keyboard, mouse, windows, hard drives, an SSD, etc, but I need a PSU, a case and a CPU cooler. Any recommendations would be awesome. Gonna try to keep this build as cheap as possible(I know, a double negative when getting a 3930k and a 780). Thanks in advance for the help.

that's actually a really really really good deal! nice find man! there's no such thing as too much for a first build x] but always ask him to test it.

whats your budget for the stuff you need? (psu, case, and cooler?)

Ya, he already has it set up in a test bench for me go see when I come look at it. And I want to keep the rest of it under $200 if at all possible. As of now, I was thinking about a hyper 212 evo for the CPU cooler, the rosewill armor-evo for a case, and then am open to options for a PSU

It was a joke, that is a steal.

Ok. Couldn't tell, but ya, this guy has upgrades each time a new Extreme edition platform comes out. He has a full set for the 3930k, the 4930k, and he is currently running a 5960x. Figured he knew more than the average craigslist as well. And he had 3 way sli with 780s, and I believe he now has 980s. He seems loaded

Well it seems like he is wasting money from buying the lastest components after every generation but those are good prices,

If you want low cost but quality parts I'd go with a Cooler master 212 Evo for cpu cooler, For PSU I'd go with  a Seasonic M12ii 620w and case is more of personal preference. Anyways i don't know what your budget for those are but those are good.

I'd like to know where he gets so much damn money.

the hyper 212 evo is an extremly good cooler when it comes to its price and performance

for the psu i would recomend a gold rated 600 - 750 watt psu

u wot m7+1

That is one hell of a deal even though the parts are a couple generations behind, that is the start of one epic rig

Ok. I thought the hyper 212 evo would do fine, as I don't think I will be over clicking quite yet, and then since the Rampage IV Extreme is an e-atx board, I think I'm gonna go with the armor evo. And I know that it would be a ways off, but if we're to ever sli the 780with another one, would a 600-700 watt PSU be enough?
