Boinc GPUGRID issues!

Go to solution Solved by Imakuni,

Note: try posting a bigger log. By "bigger", I mean one where we can see the entire phrase, not just part of it (if there is the triple dot at the end, it means there's stuff hidden).

At any rate, it is possible that this is a problem specific to the 980ti, due to it being very new. It could also be GPUGrid/subproject specific. Try running only ACEMD short tasks, then only ACEMD long. See if WUs fail on both. Also, try POEM home, as well as PrimeGrid, see if tasks fail on those projects as well.

Hey,

So I've been running Boinc in the background over the last few days using my CPU while folding on my GPU, but I always felt my Boinc was progressing a bit slow so I wanted to see if using a project that utilised my GPU would make it a lot faster. So ofc I decided to try out GPUGRID

I left it on most of last night, and throughout the night, woke up, and noticed I still had 0 points in the project, so I checked my tasks and this is what it shows:

Am5xE3x.png

They are literally all coming out as errors no matter what, does anyone know why this is and how to fix it?

I'll be folding on my GPU anyway 90% of the time, but it would be nice to get this working so I at least have the option of both.

Thanks!

Edit: If you need more info ask, I'm running it on a 980Ti, and a i5 4690k, it's set to always use the GPU and CPU, and I have 4 other active things being done alongside 1 GPUGRID at a time

Edit: Added log

I cannot say for GPUGRID. However, whenever I got that error on Einstein@Home was because my GPU drivers crashed at some point.

Have you overclocked your GPU in any way?

Yeah it is overclocked, however I tried removing the overclock and restarting my PC because I know my initial overclock which was slightly higher caused issues when folding too, but still kept failing tasks which was strange :/ Maybe me and GPUGRID just aren't meant to be aha, I'll have to try another GPU based boicn task and see if it still fails

Could you post the WU log? Might help diagnosing whats wrong.

For Boinc? Like the Event log? I could yeah, sure, I'd just need to run GPUGRID and put folding on pause for a bit, it normally fails towards the end and each GPUGRID task is about 3 hours for me

Aha sorry, for some reason I thought it showed it all when I full screened, thankfully I still have the same logs up because I haven't closed the client or anything since (Just been on another project)

Here you go:

In the mean time I'll try out the other projects you mentioned to see if it's an issue with my 980Ti/GPUGRID

Thanks.

It seemed to just be a GPUGRID issue with my 980Ti or something, anyway my 980Ti seems to work fine on the other projects I tried, and when I'm not folding with it I'll be using it for PrimeGrid. (I also switched my CPU to run a different subproject of PrimeGrid along with the other projects it's running)

Thanks for the help!
