Hey guys,

So my 1 year anniversary with my girlfriend is coming up and money is really tight at the moment so i'm not going to be able to purchase her something that I would have liked to.

I don't want to just give her something small and say "sorry that's all I could do because money is tight", I want to at the very least do something thoughtful for her to score those extra brownie points

I had the idea to create a mobile iOS app (or at the very least a desktop app as I already know Java a bit), I'm just not exactly sure on what it should be.

Currently I have the idea that it will be a simple sidescroller, where the character will walk down a long corridor and there will be picture frames on the wall (walking past them will tell you to press a button or tap the frame, where it will bring up the photo (zoom in on it) and have a "cute" caption of some kind), leading to the end of the corridor where there will be a long message of some sort that I will write (kinda like a letter).

I'm just not sure if this is going to be too boring or "generic" and wanted to know anything I can include/change to make it a bit nicer.

tl;dr: making app for anniversary because there isn't enough dollars to fund other things for her, wanting to know of any ideas you guys may have

I've always found letters to be the most thoughtful

maybe have some silly adventure and when it's over, scroll this long letter about how much you care ab her or something.

A message/note/picture of the day. I wanted to make something like that myself but wasn't really able to.

Like '365 reasons I love you' or 'A year in the life of X and X'.

Don't buy her anything? Just get her a flower and take her somewhere nice and inexpensive (like the beach), so that this anniversary day isn't just about giving her a thing, but making the day in itself special. Make her day by doing something really nice. Or something like that. Go do something fun together. Something different.

Yeah i'm trying to think about stuff like this also, but she is very particular with her tastes and things she likes to do.

At the very least I want to take her ice skating or something, something that just myself and her can do, and then possibly cook her a roast for dinner (as she usually cooks not me).

It would just be nice to be able to present something to her as well, as these types of things are what really matters but trinkets can help bring a smile to the face as well :P

I'm just trying to think what I did with my missus when we where together for one year, I think we went out for lunch and went for a walk.

objects isnt really the thing that matters for anniversary's it the thought and for us guys we remembered.

we both got each other something on our 2nd year together but really we have only really brought stuff when we have funds that could be spent on such a thing.

Its all about those volumetric clouds

forget all that nonsense. dont waste money on a woman you most likely will not be with down the line. Rent a room that way you can both get something out of it.

We have been living together since before we started dating :P
