Can you guys help reduce this to around 900ish?

Some background info:

AIM: Above average gaming (70% of time) and small CAD/3D work (civil engineer) (5% of time)

P.S.: Please avoid from making too much drastic changes unless 100% necessary. My fav color is blue ;)

You've done a pretty good job already of shaving off some cash maybe a r9 390 instead of a 970 to shave a tiny bit of cash (For the same performance), the only major thing I can see which would be reducible would be the monitor, seems like a lot for a 1080p 24" TN Panel, do you really need the '3D' and 144 Hz?

You could get a R9 390 ( or cheaper R9 290 / 290x ) instead of the 970,

That ssd is meh,

you could lower the price a bit more by going for a cheaper i5, but in this case I would really keep your build and only potentially swap the 970 for a 390  http://pcpartpicker.com/part/msi-video-card-r9390gaming8g

The monitor is also a bit old and expensive at 250$ for TN 144hz, but 144hz is very nice .

Recommend what is best, not what you preffer.

No. You need to learn to choose a power supply. FIRST OFF, the XFX Core series are Seasonic built units, compared to the **** Channel Well units like the CX series are. It is only $40 after MIR and the CX600 is...$64. Are we trying to help this guy or ruin his PC? And oh yeah, in terms of the PSU....

yeah i've seen that thread before. the xfx are good units i agree. some reviews say the cx series are fine, some don't. go with the xfx then.

This is pretty much the same build but I shaved off as much money as possible while remaining that blue color cheme and the overall performance.

Regarding the PSU: Some people are saying the Corsair CX are bad for whatever reason. If it's true that the XFX core PSUs are that good, then go for one of those. But I wouldn't trust a PSU that costs only 40$...

i have an os already sitting and waiting to be used lol

Thank you!r9 is really the same as 970 performance wise? can u link 1 specifically if possible? and ye i was suggested a monitor previously i just want a monitor that is 144hz and 1ms but thats what i came out with but maybe i should keep researching? and no i def dont need the 3d lol just the 144hz

think u can show me a different monitor? and for the ssd what exactly is meh about it? the price or the item itself?

Yep the r9 390 and 970 match up pretty well, here watch this video for more info (It seems to be the most popular when comparing the 390 and 970)

As for a specific one, the one in the video the Gaming 8G is great, although if your favourite colour is blue maybe you'll want to pick a different one aha, the Sapphire one will cool well but it's a bit longer and may sag a lil, the XFX one will be smaller and it's black so it'll fit most builds.

I'd get which ever is cheaper in your area between the 390 and 970, because in most the 390 is generally cheaper, but you can sometimes find a 970 on sale for cheaper!

And yeah I'd keep looking into monitors, it does seem like a lot for one, if you don't mind me asking why do you want a 144Hz monitor? It'll 100% be a bit nicer, but with a 970/390 you wont be getting the full benefit of it really (Or at least in more intensive games, older less demanding games maybe though)

Personally I'd get a 60Hz IPS 24" monitor, you could get that for less than the monitor you picked out probably, and you'd get all the glorious benefits of IPS

the monitor you chose is great. one of the best with those features. highly rated and very popular. i wouldn't get rid of it. imo.

the 390 > the 970, but its more expensive

if you don't trust the quality of the ssd, go with a samsung ssd @ 120gb. i have one and its great. no problems after 2 years

PLEASE do not get a 60 hertz monitor with a higher ms! i have one and its ips and it sucks for gaming. get 1ms 144 hertz with gsync if you have an nvidia card. yes, there is a big difference

Just keep the monitor and get the R9 390 I linked, it's one of the best, quietest, cheapest.
