underclocking adm fx 9370

Go to solution Solved by Clyne,

yeah but since the 9xxx series is technically the same as the 8xxx one, i don't understand why it shouldn't work (despite the through the roof tdp)

I guess it's with BIOS, heck even AMD only recommends the 9xxx ones with 990FX, not 970.

It will probably won't detect in BIOS anyway.

If you haven't bought it yet, I'd really recommend an i5 4440 instead.

The entire point of a 9370 is that it's a heavily overclocked 8350 that requires a beefy after market cooler on it,

if you don't own a beefy after market cooler or plan on getting one very soon then you might as well just get an 8350 an OC that as far as you can.

All though you shouldn't really be buying an FX chip now a days extremely dated technology an I5 would perform much better in games.

An AMD cpu has no place in a solely gaming build, end of.

I3 4150, Intel HD graphics, corsair CX750M, 4gb ram, Asus H81M-E, corsair 230T, Intel stock cooler WD Green 2TB Gigabyte 550TI

Why you shouldn't trust Gpu or Cpu boss Click on this I dare you!

It's not compatible out of the box, but theoretically that CAN work. You might as well get an 8350 if you're going to underclock a 93XX series CPU. They're the same exact chip.

I recommend going for an i5 though. It's a better investment overall

i already OWN the 9370 but it's totally bullshit, i had it in my gigabyte 990fxa-ud3 rev 4.0 board, but an 8350 overcklocked to 4.7 ghz worked way better on it (because i got the 9370 like really cheap). So now I want to make a build for a friend with my remaining asrock and 9370

taht is the reason why i want to UNDERCLOCK and UNDERVOLT it. And the only thing i want to know is, if it will work. (i mean massively underclocking, like down to 3ghz or so)

It MAY work

Eh it wouldn't work anyway, it says so on the website.

Just get a 8320 and downvolt, or at least sell the CPU for a 8320 or something similar.
