GTX 960 Vs R9 380

Hi guys,

So I'm building a new system now and I'm a bit stuck on the graphics card.

I'm looking at a Galax GTX 960 EXOC and an Asus 2gb R9 380 strix, I am really on the fence between these two cards and cannot decide which one to get. Could someone please help me decide / suggest a better card for the price bracket.

They're pretty much the same. Neither is as good as a 280X.

The 380 is a great card, but I think you can get better performance by getting a 280x or save up for more money and get a better GPU

R9 380 gives slightly more raw performance. GTX 960 makes up that with lower heat+power, and Nvidia's frankly better drivers (as well as features like shadowplay). TBH I would go 960, as you won't notice the tiny bit of more performance that the R9 380 gives.

280 or 280X instead for more Vram

i -personally- prefer nvidia for lower wattage -> less heat output, and offcourse drivers.

 

i should probably get a modern AMD card one day, but at the time of my radeon HD 5770 the drivers were UNGODLY terrible.

For such prices take the 960. R9 380 is quite a lot more expensive in your country, so it becomes less appealing.
