I've heard the new '9000' AMD Radeon series is coming out this September so since I'm building my PC in a week or two with a 770, is it worth waiting? If so, what are the prices going to be and how powerful will they be?

So far we don't know much, but you can expect similar price and performance to the 700 series cards. I would say that you wouldn't be missing out on much if you bought the 770 now.

Yes, worth the wait. Nvidia's prices will drop as well. We don't know how powerful they would be, but think 6000 series jummp to 7000 series jump.

I refuse to believe that any game is going to be "optimized" for any specific gpu. Thats all marketing and a 780 will run it just as well because a good card is a good card

The 8970M is leaps and bounds ahead of the 7970M, so I'd expect the 9970, and the other 9000 series cards, to be much better than what the Red team has now.

You sure about that?

The 8970M is a 7970M with a +50 Mhz boost clock.. (lol-derp, it's slower than my OC'd 7970M that I'm using right now..)

i7 not perfectly stable at 4.4.. #firstworldproblems

Of course it will be worth the wait. It comes out in ~two months. 7970 came out almost 2 years ago, so they better make it a refresh that has over a 10% improvement over the predecessor. Expect low prices, high overclocking ability, and DirectX 11.2 support with Windows 8.1 too. Why would they be cheap? Because AMD is going to make a fortune off the Xbox One and PS4, so they'd rather make more sales, than jack the price. AMD has always targeted the lower budgeted consumers, so this is very likely. This is just my assumption though.

I'd wait. Even if the new cards aren't that great prices might drop.

Only reason to wait is that the prices will probably drop, I doubt that amd will release some amazing card at a cheap price, I would get a 770 when the prices drop, or if you have some spare money, just get it now.

Don't plan for something you don't know when it's going to be released I'm pretty sure that AMD said no graphics card will be released this year

Amd is releasing their cards at the end of Q3, in september, the new AMD cards are coming soon, not sure where you heard that, but they confirmed it...
