Since recently my computer started giving random BSOD's when gaming and giving an error about graphics. That said, I can easily run furmark for a couple of hours and there are no problems. I've also recently noticed a clicking sound from my HDD which is also kinda worrying. I've got an SSD for my OS and Drivers and an HDD to store my games. Should I replace my HDD or my GPU?

Windows 8.1 64 bit (OEM, self-installed)

Gigabyte R9-280x

Gigabyte Z97x-UD3 (not sure about if this is the right SKU)

i5-4670K

Kingston HyperX 3k 120GB SSD

Seagate 1tb hard drive

Corsair HX850 (The old model +/- 2 years old)

Added: the quickest way to get my computer to crash is to play 15 min. of EU4, not sure if this helps though.

Added: Crysis 2 does work and so does LOL

Can't you disable or take away your HDD (I assume the OS is on your SSD) and see if you still get BSOD's?

Install Hard Disk Sentinel and check the health of your drive.

A clicking noise from your HDD is never a good sign though.

The problem is that the BSOD's are very infrequent (once/twice a day), it'd be hard to pinpoint if this really fixed it, but I'll give it a try.

take a look at the windows event log

Thats that. If you need to get in touch chances are you can find someone that knows me that can get in touch.

That said, I'm afraid the corrupted files mostly likely result from the unexpected restarts rather than that they are the cause of them.

i like to call these commands "windows ducktape"

you fix something thats broken, not really caring what caused it, and if it doesnt break again, theres no reason to fix it better.

Too bad it didn't work :-/

Look at what I added to the description. For me the fact that EU4 causes BSOD's (Hardware crashes, because if only EU4 crashed windows should still've worked right?) And Crysis 2 doesn't surprises me.
