AMD vs NVIDIA in Minecraft

the specs i have (listed below) get me 50 FPS with ultra shaders,.

My potato laptop (i3 3rd gen, 4GB ram) could run minecraft at ~30 FPS medium Settings on ~50 people servers with shaders...

 

Edit: Kinda remember someone saying it runs better on Nvidia cards due to better OpenGL performance (Don't know how accurate the articles I looked at are saying they're a few years old).

 

But I REALLY don't think you'll notice a difference...

I wouldn't care, anything more than r7 260x or a 750 ti will max the shit out of it with mods.

R7 360 < 750Ti (Ti may cost more)

R9 370 > 750Ti (370 may cost more)

R9 380 > 960 (same price)

R9 390 > 970 (but cost a bit more in some cases!)

R9 390X > 980 (390X needs HUGE PSU!!!) X_X

I think amd is better, but its my opinion. A core2 duo with 2gb ram, windows xp, and an hd 5450 512mb card ran beta 1.7.3 eith everthing cranked

Well in a 20,000 player server on my overclocked gtx 970 I was getting 30-45 fps with SEUS ULTRA DOF shaders in highly populated places but when I go in the wilderness I get over 60

Get a single better card instead. If you just care about Minecraft then you can go cheap -- R7 270~ cheap. If you want the best you can get for the money, then that will depend on your budget.

Dude no need to be hostile, and yes in most cases the R9 390x is faster than the GTX 980 also it's $100 cheaper and it has 8GBs of vram, 4 more than the GTX 980

Minecraft doesnt take advantage of SLI, but my friends have 760's and they run the game with more power than needed

And my 770 destroys it, I would hope it does, its fucking Minecraft.

Hi I have a 280x and max minecraft on modded, I make it look stupid real and have a shit ton of mods and always have 300fps+ so if anyone is complaining about fps look St your settings and the way you run it
