I've recently been browsing the web and came along a ATX PC inside of a Powermac G5 case and I've decided that I want to try it! So this will be the build log for it! I have already started stripping it out of all the parts, and i'll post pictures daily/semi daily. When I get home i'll upload the first few! Note: this will be a long project so i'll try not to let it run stale. My overall plan is to strip it bare, figure out how im going to put my PSU inside of it, Modify the whole back side of the case to allow for a mountain mods ATX motherboard tray in so that an ATX I/O will fit, and then my dad is gonna get it powder coated black, but i'm only going to have certain parts coated. I haven't decided if i'm going to go for the 2x80 mm exhaust or the 1x120mm exhaust. Its going to be a tough decision but i'll make it tonight at home. P.S. This thing is a pain to disassemble! It has taken 2 hours so far and i've only gotten maybe 2/3 of the way done.

BIG UPDATE 2/17/13

I'm glad to announce that I have been sponsored by MountainMods!

http://postimage.org/image/96tbwjed3/'>http://www.mountainmods.com/mountain-mods-modular-removable-motherboard-tray-p-56.html'>Alright, First off I'd like to say that the packaging of the tray was literally superb. There was plastic wrap everywhere that it could be, protecting the tray. They even included some free packing peanuts!

http://postimage.org/image/96tbwjed3/'>http://postimage.org/'>Photo_2.jpg

These are the screws, not much to say here except they feel really solid.

http://postimage.org/image/xd8klepvb/'>http://www.mountainmods.com/mountain-mods-modular-removable-motherboard-tray-p-56.html'>This is the look of the box when it arrived. I must say, when I picked up the box itself, I was amazed by how light it was. I thought that they might have forgotten to put the tray in.

http://postimage.org/image/xd8klepvb/'>http://postimage.org/'>Photo_4.jpg

These are the pci bracket holder covers. They came with a very nice brushed aluminum finish.

http://postimage.org/image/55gu4mbg7/'>http://www.mountainmods.com/mountain-mods-modular-removable-motherboard-tray-p-56.html'>Various other standoffs and screws, the standoffs look freakin' amazing.

This is the back bracket of the tray, where the fans will be exhausting. It too comes in a beautiful brushed aluminum finish.

This is the panel that goes with the exhaust bracket on the back of the case. Again very beautiful brushed aluminum finish.

Good luck on this - I would go for the 120mm rear if possible versus the two 80mm. Overall better performance and a lot quieter...

Photo_1.jpg

video card makes a good coaster for coffee

Photo_2.jpg

The motherboard, that metal bit is going to come off, but im going to hang the board on my wall, Like a true nerd. But this board is absolutely HUGE

Photo_3.jpg

Decided on going with the 120mm exhaust, waiting on something else which I can't say in order to move forward with the mod! Stay tuned!

Well yes, but I got creativity points from my girlfriend for it! She doesn't know I didn't actually think of doing that!
