SSD upgrade

I am upgrading my dads pc and i want to move the os to a ssd, How big is Windows 8? and which ssd do you recomend me getting?. my buget is 100$ more or less.

 

also now that i think about it, do i need to buy a new Windows 8 for him or how do i transfer the os?. its a custom built pc

Windows is not tiny, but it isnt massive. A 64GB can cope but I would get at least a 128GB one.

There are tools you can download to transfer files over storage... I forget the name though -,-

I would suggest getting atleast a 128gb boot drive and use the old HDD as your storage drive.

 

No you wont have to get a new copy of windows 8 what you will need is the CD key and the disc or download a genuine copy and make a usb bootable media to reinstall windows to the ssd..

 

OR - clone the entire old drive to your shiny new ssd with the usually included cloning software provided with your ssd (only if the old drive is not full and larger than the ssd)

I have the cd but i dont remember where i put the key, i do have the original package but i did not find the key
