Hello,

Here is my current setup:

CPU: A10-5800K (Trinity)
MoBo:FM2A88M-HD+

RAM: Hyper X Fury 8GB stick

GPU: PowerColor HD 7870 Myst

PSU: Antec High Current Gamer 620W
SSD: Plextor M5 120GB
HDD: 2 TB WD Green(I think its green)

Currently running at 1080p single monitor with plans of going multi monitor, I actually have 1 monitor (720p) waiting to be attached.

Willing to spend USD 700-900

Candidates for upgrade:

CPU+MoBo
GPU

What I want to get:
980 Ti/Fury(Non X)

Reasons why I want to get the GPUs above, Well I've been reading get the best card you can afford so you can wait 3-5 years to upgrade again.

This was my first build (2 years old, almost 3)

Edit:

Was hoping to get your opinions on this.

Or if I should upgrade my CPU/MoBo first, then GPU or something along those lines.

THANKS :)

get a 390. You do NOT need a 980ti for 1080/720p

I know I don't need a 980ti and I am considering a 390/x since it has 8GB of memory, but its not the highest end GPU I can afford.

But Thanks for the suggestion.

Yes, definitely mobo+cpu first...

i5/xeon+ gpu.

May I ask why? Just for reasoning's sake and so I can take that into consideration too.

@ZetZet, why a xeon?

If your PC is intended for gaming, AMD is a REALLY bad idea, and that APU you have... ugh, don't get me started

Sorry, when I first built this PC I was under a tight budget of 600usd. And I was thinking if the GPU dies the APU would be a backup of sorts. Plus I wasn't very knowledgeable 2-3 years ago.

Basically, Gaming + Programming and sorts.

That APU is kinda outdated.  The 6xxx and the 7xxx are starting to struggle.  Those A10 top around a 270x before a massive bottlenecks occurs.  An i5 or Xeon won't have that issue.

Yeah That's why I want to upgrade...

Yeah, was thinking of waiting for Skylake...

I don't think I can get a Xeon where I live though.

Hello,

Snip

Sadly i think you shold upgrade your mobo, but you can get a 980ti first and wait for the new platform to come since u will need both new mobo n cpu. So maybe 650usd on the gpu. And try save up 220ish for i5 cpu mobo combo.

If cant wait, then i would say 4460+h81(with usb3)+980ti.

Oh wait that still under 900usd.

Thanks for the Parts list. Can the 970 run 3x 1080 monitors(this is the grand plan for my display setup or at least 3 monitors)? how about the 390/x will it also fit in in the budget?

I'm considering your setup :P

@valdyrgramr, question, I didn't like the gold heatsinks of the mobo you suggested so I was looking for some and I noticed there are things like z97, H97, z97i and z97m. What do these mean?

EDIT: and is there a WIDE difference between an 390 and 390x? cuz I cant find an 8gb 290/x here :(

I would say wait for skylake and even Zen for sure. Right now is a bad time to buy anything new really unless you need to.

290 is all you need at 1080p.  But, the x is faster.  As for the difference of those boards that I dunno.  I know the z97 is capable of OCs though if I remember correctly.  http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-2191982/h87-h97-z87-z97.html

the only 290 I can find which is readily available is the 4gb version though... that's why I opted for the 390...

You could, but you will bottleneck until then.

by how much would you say? If I feel it bottlenecks too hard, I still have enough to by the 4690k+mobo immediately anyway

Pretty badly.  Every rig differs on that, but still pretty bad. You can test it out if you want then get the other parts after you see.  xD

I don't know what a bottleneck 'looks' like, I'm guessing artifacting, stuttering and frame rates dropping are signs of bottlenecks? I guess I'll do this for now. I'll get it after I sell my current GPU.

Thanks again

Well when the new stuff is out there might be better drivers for the 3xx series cards not only that but new CPUs too.
