GTX 460 is it still relevant?

Is the GTX 460 still usable for gaming? At 720p or 1080p?

Just depends on what you're expecting to play on it, and at what resolution. My GTX 460 ran very, very well in Unreal 3 era games of a few years ago like Mass Effect, Dishonored, Borderlands 1/2, etc. It would probably do very well in lower-fidelity modern games like League of Legends, Starcraft II, CS:GO, most MMO's, etc.

 

It's probably going to struggle if you tried to play new games like The Witcher 3 or Far Cry 4 on it at 1080p, even at lowered details.

 

It's about as fast as a current Radeon R7 260 or R7 360, so benchmarks with those GPUs may give you some idea of where the 460 will stand. Though that 1 GB frame buffer is going to hurt badly in some games.

At 720p for sure. At 1080p it's ok. My roommate still runs hes 465 and it's doing alright. And considering my other roommate runs GTA V at 1080p on normal with a smooth framerate on a GTS 450, i'd say the 460 is still very usable.

My 560Ti is really starting to run out of power for the newest games, mainly because it's only got 1GB of VRAM, so I'd say the less powerful 460 has pretty much run out of usefulness when it comes to gaming, at least where running everything at medium or even low settings isn't acceptable.
