The fasted AMD APUs right now are as strong as discreet GPUs, but we're talking low-end GPUs (equivalent to an R7-250 at best).

They will have increased performance in the future but they will never match pure high-end GPU performance.

No. at least, not anywhere near the level of a high-end GPU, not at the rate their performance is accelerating versus integrated graphics and APUs. They're fine for basic gaming like running basic Minecraft computers, servers or media PCs and home theaters, but at the moment they are just not powerful enough. Putting them in the same package is complicated enough.

ok i was just wondering since the thought came into my head cause technology is always advancing and if dedicated gpus did become a thing of the past and cpus had enough performance by them selves just think about how small and powerful pcs could become like gigabytes tiny gaming pc, that thing could become a monster of a pc.

What? My msi 7950 is still trucking along nicely, maxing out a respectable number of games at 60fps..

The mobile market is driving the desire and evolution of integrated graphics, there will need to be a massive leap in technology (which will probably happen eventually) in order to phase out discreet graphics, the gap in performance between the two is still astronomical and the development of 4k and future gaming titles perpetuate the need for discreet high power graphics processors.

Handing out TechRx's

loli have a nvidia 7950 gt, its like almost a decade old. Honestly i was impressed with the apu i had, it ran rome 2 at low 1080p

OHHH, I thought you were referencing the AMD radeon HD 7950. That makes a lot more sense now, haha.

Not aslong as the Cry-engine or Frostbite engine exists
