Dual 7950s?

Go to solution Solved by SleathX1,

Yes they are definitely great cards, still today. Just make sure that his power supply is up to the task, because that's a lot of amperage and wattage.

Hi everyone. my cousin, is looking to complete his budget build, and upon looking he said he can get 2 7950 boost cards for about $300. He wanted me to ask, if its still a decent card to use to this day, and will the crossfire be worth it? Thanks for reading.

As shit as crossfire can be, this seems like a great deal.* 7950s have always been a good price. Could be a good idea

*EDIT: Lol forgot 7950s usually go for that price

okay thanks guys. I know this may be a hard question to ask, but he was wondering how he would do with current titles in 1080p?

I've got a single 7950 from Sapphire. Great card. GTA V on high, I get around 60-80 FPS.

WAIT

OP. no. stop. back up. I had crossfired 7950s. its VERY nice if you already have a 7950. but if you have 300$ to spend, DO NOT buy both cards up front. crossfire is a pain in the ass. you will be MUCH happier with just a 300$ card

if he already has one 7950, then by all means do it

If budget is tight, go for the 7950s, as they will have support for DirectX 12 so there is no conflict there. If you can put out like 50USD, the 200 series discounts are putting the 280, which is basically a rebranded 7950 for about 170-180USD. You get a bit better performance, and you're getting new unused cards.

What i would do however, was to get a single 300USD card.

Okay. I'll let him know that.
