Hi! I'm looking to build a very cheap gaming PC that, over time, I can upgrade. I live in England and am looking to spend under £400 on this build.

I plan to use this build to mainly play CSGO and a bit of light photoshop. CSGO will need to run at high FPS on low settings while background programs are running such as Google Chrome and other applications. I will only be using one monitor for this setup. I will need to buy windows along with all the other components. Apart from that I don't need any other peripherals.

Some of the features I know I want are;

- 8GB of RAM.

- A 1TB hard drive. (I don't want an SSD, I don't care about load times either)

Apart from that i'm clueless on what I should get! Thanks for reading.

EDIT: Sorry for not putting this in pounds, but I think it's around 410 pounds.

Buying Windows from Retail pushes £18 over budget which could be fixed by getting it from places mentioned above, or being savvy and shopping around yourself.

You get an upgrade path to an i5 later on (Say, a 4460. Getting a K series or an i7 would need a motherboard upgrade) and the option to upgrade to 16GB RAM by adding another 8GB stick.

I have personally used an FX-6300, and I didn't really like it. It caused significant stuttering with my GTX 960 (the AMD was sitting with only a +0.4GHz overclock). The Intel chip (being the G3258) would be better for upgradability, but you may struggle in some AAA titles. I'm not sure how it performs in CS:GO, but I don't see why it wouldn't be able to handle it.

I would personally go for the Intel chip with a Z97 board (so you can get something like a 4690K down the road) with an R7 260X/360 or GTX 750 Ti (which will be able to handle CS:GO just fine) and you're golden. For some AAA titles, you may struggle with that setup, but Source games are so undemanding that you should be fine.
