My first gaming build

Hi

 

I need some help with my future gaming PC puild. I have a budget around $1000 including stuff like monitors and keyboard. I play mostly light games like CS:GO, LoL, DotA and Minecraft. I'm also into light video and photo editing. I'm planning to overclock at least my CPU. Any help would be appreciated.

 

CPU: Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz

Video Card: MSI GeForce GTX 960 2GB

Motherboard: ASRock Z87 PRO3

Storage #1: OCZ ARC 100 240GB SSD

Storage #2: Western Digital WD Green 2TB HDD

Memory: Crucial Ballistix Sport 2x4GB DDR3-1600

Case: Corsair SPEC-01

Power Supply: EVGA 500W 80+

CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper TX3

Optical Drive: Samsung SH-224DB/RSBS

 

Questions:

 

- Is the CPU a little "overkill"? I read that 4690K would be best for overclocking, but are there cheaper, similar options?

- Is 2GB of VRAM enough to run two 1080p monitors with high settings?

- Is my motherboard choice good?

- Is 500W enough for my system?

- Is my SSD good?

Every i5 is a good option. the 4690k is top of the line I5.

You want to game on both monitors at ones. Or game on one monitor and use a the second monitor as spare for music, youtube, facebook etc. 


- Is my motherboard choice good?


Yes.


- Is 500W enough for my system?


Yes.


- Is my SSD good?


Every SSD is a good option. Samsung or Intel SSD are better but they are more expensive.

1. Your CPU is fine if you plan on doing some video/photo editing, if you don't want to overclock then you can always go for a i5 4460 or similar

2. Depends on the game and setting, for your case yes it would be enough.

3. I would go for a z97 board instead

4. yes it's more then enough.

5. Yes

I use to be able to input a cheat code now I've got to input a credit card - Total Biscuit

You want to game on both monitors at ones. Or game on one monitor and use a the second monitor as spare for music, youtube, facebook etc.

The second option. One monitor for games and one as spare.

Is Gigabyte Z97P-D3 good choice for money?

Just get the AMD R9 380 4GB instead! Much better and 2GB VRAM is a bit to little...
