Looking for IPS monitors for Surround

Go to solution Solved by Pingypoker,

Could a mod close this topic?

Sup.

So, I currently have two 23" monitors (Acer H236HLbid, Acer S231HLbid). I've been thinking of selling them and buying three 24" IPS monitors. What I'm looking for is a monitor that is like the Acer H236HLbid (IPS, flat bezel), but is 24". I'm willing to spend up to ~$250 on each one, however less would be better.

I'm also willing to buy those Korean monitors on eBay. If there are any of those that fit within my needs, I'll gladly take a look at them.

Thanks.

I've got the ASUS IPS monitors. 23" and 22" (VS239H-P and VS229H-P respectively), and for the month I've been using them, they've been phenomenal. I don't see why that wouldn't carry up to their 24"+ monitors. Only catch is that they're glossy finish. Doesn't bug me beyond being fingerprint magnets, but if you're strict about the flat finish it might be a bit of a buzzkill. Right now they're http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236331'>on sale on Newegg.com for $240.

Blackout - Intel Core i5-4670K | Xigmatek Dark Knight II Nighthawk Ed. | Gigabyte GeForce GTX 770 (2GB) | 8GB Corsair Vengeance Mem. | Gigabyte GA-Z87X-D3H Mobo | 250GB Samsung 840 Series SSD | 1TB WD Black HDD | Seasonic Platinum SS-660XP2 660w PSU

24in monitors are not a common size. In good IPS monitors you have 2 choices the Asus PA248Q or the Dell U2412HM which are both $300 and the bezels aren't on the thin side.

Looks good, but the bezels are a bit too thick for my taste, and they aren't flush with the screen like the H236HLbid.

24inch means 16:10 (1920x1200) in the IPS panel space, at least that is known to me.

The bezel thickness is 2cm which is standard for all high-end consumer grade monitors.

Measure on your size the thickness of the edge of the screen, and where the black bar finishes, right before the first row of pixels on the screen.

I don't understand what you are trying to say.

Just letting you the thickness of the suggested IPS panels, and how it will compares with your current ones, for you to visualize, if you care about that.

Ah.

Right now I'm looking at the Dell S2440L. It's $199 on Amazon. It's not IPS, but people say it's very good compared to it.

It's a VA panel which is similar, but the colors are not as good. It also isn't as feature rich as the 16:10 monitors. If your happy about your  monitors you should really just keep them and get 1 more since most bezels are on the thick side for 24in monitors. Then use the extra money for some new graphics power.

The Dell S series has kind of pathetic input options though xD  The bezel is not the thinnest things, my brother has two so I have seen them in person, even though there are fake pictures of them floating around that make them appear to be almost bezel-less (including the pictures on Newegg).  It is maybe 1-1.5cm thick, which is about the same as The U2412M or PA248Q.  If I were doing it I'd probably pick the PA248Q over either Dell one simply because the bezel is rectangular and not rounded like the Dell monitors, so in a surround setup they will fit together more seamlessly :)  I think the Acer H236HLbid would be a good option as well though.  The LG 24EB23PY-B would also be something to look at since it is a good deal cheaper than the PA248Q, and has DisplayPort input.

The bezel is the black area around the screen where a picture can't be displayed. Just so that we are on the same page.

This is super thin:

I doubt you have this... these cost a fortune.
