Best video capture device?

So I've wanted to find the best overall capture device to get for my youtube and live streams. For live streaming I think OBS + NVENC works fine at 2500kbps upload 

 

But for recording to youtube.. This is a tough one. I would like you guys to go check out Linus's videos AND a youtuber named Gopher.

How is the videos on 1080p so clear and beautiful? 

 

I wan't to be able to capture 1080p 60fps loseless video quality.

 

I also would love help on any sort of rendering settings for Sony vegas pro 10 and up (cause 11,12 and 13 are all the same lol)

 

any help at understanding how youtube compresses quality etc, would help too. I hear all sorts of stuff and apparently uploading a 1080p video rendered at 4K into youtube even makes the 1080p option better than the default 1080p? what? how?

Well you'll probably need a high performance PC nonetheless. Have you tried asking Gopher what he uses?

 

There's always the popular Elgato and and Roxio.

won't or want

they are two opposite things

 

if you want lossless youre going to spend an entire week uploading a 30 second lossless video to youtube, and it will get compressed anyway

Geforce Experience does a nice job at not taxing the CPU but a little limited compared to OBS. Make sure your internet is like 100 up and down otherwise forget 1080 or 720 streaming

Well you'll probably need a high performance PC nonetheless. Have you tried asking Gopher what he uses?

 

There's always the popular Elgato and and Roxio.

Elgato is for consoles and is compressed quality. 

 

Roxia..is..No..just no.

if you want lossless youre going to spend an entire week uploading a 30 second lossless video to youtube, and it will get compressed anyway

I want it for editing and you can see in some of my old videos  Example.

you can see that there is random artifacting and pixelation.

Geforce Experience does a nice job at not taxing the CPU but a little limited compared to OBS. Make sure your internet is like 100 up and down otherwise forget 1080 or 720 streaming

I use the NVIDIA NVENC (Shadowplay codec) on OBS to encode. and I upload at 30fps 720p 2500kbps with no frame drops ever. That's no problem. My issue is getting a good recording device for youtube, figuring out the compression issues, and Rendering my videos properly in SVPro

People have told me a cheap solution is to record with OBs bypassing Shadowplay's crap compression issues but have yet to try because I also need to figure out what the hell is with the pixelation on the videos. The raw videos don't have that pixelation and even the edited ones don't have any Only after the youtube upload they fuck up.

the pixelation is either from being bit rate starved or something wrong with the gpu

So should I render my videos at youtubes shit 8mbps and make sure the videos aren't pixilating anymore? Cause I only uplaoded 10mbps videos and they were fine edited like I said.

you can record with shadowplay at 1080p 60fps and it looks perfectly fine, its probably something to do with the codec youre using

it looks excellent for the file size it outputs

 

I render with XAVC 1080p 59.940p

make sure your project settings are set to progressive scan, no interlacing, and if XAVC or AVC doesnt work for you try other formats from the big list that comes with vegas

.mp4 is a good container, try those first

when I was working out what to render in I just make a quick 30 second test video, then rendered it in all the different .mp4 codecs that vegas had, then chose the one that looked best

when you click on one of the codecs there is a "customize template" button and depending on the codec, you can adjust bitrate, framerate, and other quality settings

 

it took a lot of trial and error but I found what works for me

So I've wanted to find the best overall capture device to get for my youtube and live streams. For live streaming I think OBS + NVENC works fine at 2500kbps upload 

 

But for recording to youtube.. This is a tough one. I would like you guys to go check out Linus's videos AND a youtuber named Gopher.

try fraps or bandicam? they have more codec options and you can try others to see if they do better with motion compression
