I'm trying to get at least 5 ghz (my goal is 5.5 just for bragging rights) on a 3930k and asus rampage 4 extreme can someone who has an overclock like this give me their settings

Why just not Google it? And what is your cooler? And this is a bad idea.

Not to stereotype but that's probably why he's even think he CAN let alone should get 5.5ghz.

It's not impossible. It's just not a good idea.

I can't give you any settings but you are going to need like a top 3% 3930k with a SERIOUS custom water loop.

I can get 5ghz easily so I think I have a pretty good chip and I have a 360mm rad for just a cpu so I think my cooling is pretty good

So what would you suggest remember it dosen't have to be too stable I just want to take a screenshot and have bragging rights

what makes you say you can easily get 5Ghz? Have you already done it? Do you already have the chip and know it's a good overclocker? Honestly there is no way of being sure you can do this unless you have already done it.

Piplup does have a pretty decent loop.

I like the color scheme of Noctua fans. Deal with it. Forget about the bad memories of the past.

Just go for as high as possible. I just think 5.5ghz is a bit on the ambitious side.

5.2-5.3 is more like it.

Try 1.475 volts to get 5.5 Ghz.

Getting to 5.5 GHz at all is impossible on a lot of 2011 chips. They tend to max out around 5.3-5.6GHz, from what I've heard. You'd need some impressive cooling to do that, though; probably phase change or something. LN2 seems to be a bit of a waste of time on these chips, since they max out pretty quickly, unlike the old 980X chips.

If you just want to get it stable enough for a screenshot then preset your fans/pump to run at max then keep cranking up the volts until you can get it stable enough to screenshot. Your chip won't instantly blow up on you if it gets to tjmax it will just shut down. Just shut it down as soon as the screenshot is saved.

Your voltage is too high. Above 1.45 volts causes CPU damage no matter how you cool it. Intel only recommends 1.3 as a safe voltage and I never go past 1.35 for my current 5.1 overclock. Also I make sure that my temperatures are always below the recommended maximum temps which is 67 degrees Celsius...

I am good at computer

So your specs in sig are just a terrible troll? You aren't staying below 67c max temps with 1.35v on a hyper 212 evo.......

Nice attempt at trying to be cool though.

well its not like 1.45+ volts is gonna kill my cpu very quickly but what it will do is decrease its life but I'll probably upgrade before that anyways

On Sandy Bridge, 1.45V tends to be the max that's recommended. A Sandy Bridge CPU won't realistically degrade dangerously over its lifetime at 1.45V, unless you are running it under 24/7 load. The worst damage I have heard of was a guy needing a bump of 1.408V to 1.442V following 7 months of 24/7 load on a 2600k. I would say that you are pretty much safe if you are running it below 1.4V, and pushing it a bit at over 1.4V; I wouldn't exceed 1.45V for 24/7 load and 1.5V without subambient cooling.

Since SB-E seems to be similar to SB in terms of architecture, I would assume that its degradation charactersistics would be similar.

Cooling does reduce electromigration. There's a reason you can run a CPU at 1.9V under LN2.

also, if you are doing 5.1GHz at 1.35V, I would either assume that you get plenty of blue screens, or you won the silicon lottery, and your chip is being completely wasted.

That is a lie, 5.1Ghz @ 1.335

I'm currently running 5.2Ghz at 1.550 and i have a reasonably good chip.

You're gonna quickly degrade that chip at that voltage. Ivy Bridge is pretty durable in terms of voltage degradation, but you're gonna lose a fair bit of life on that chip for the extra 100MHz, at that voltage.

get some quicker memory too.

It's quad channel memory; it really doesn't matter all that much.
