  • Remember to touch a ground connection before you start

Take your time

Don't force anything. The things that fits together will fit without much trouble

Don't build it on a carpet

Always test the system outside the case first

Think about what parts to buy 10x longer that it'll actually take you to build the thing AT LEAST.

use plenty of space, don't think you can do it all in a small area.

take your time, rushing in excitement could lead to silly mistakes.

don't assume you know everything, check the manual.

Keep your screws in a handy container.

Don't work on a carpet but instead something less conductive like wood.

Don't close up your case until you've tested the system works.

Take your time with cabling and make it look nice. Think about where you want the cables to look.

Don't panic and refer to the forum for help.

Allocate plenty of time for completion. The only aspect of my build that I regret is rushing putting it together in the case. It was 8:00PM on a school night and I had homework... Needless to say, it only took me ~45 minutes... Enjoy the building process while you can.

Cable Manage. Spend time while you are assembling in your case and make the cables nice and tight (not too tight :P ) It really helps with temps and overall look, and even if you don't have a window it helps if you ever swap out parts.
