Not true, you can OC the 3258 on certain non-z chipset motherboards.

You really don't, the G3258 in my media PC overclocks to 4.2GHz just fine on an H81 board.

Most motherboard manufacturers have a newish BIOS update that will allow overclocking on non Z boards

is the overclocking potential the same as a z97?

H67 mobos aren't made for overclocking, you need a Z97 mobo as cheeze_tartz_said.

Welcome to the forum!

first of all look if you can update the bios to the latest version and after that you'll be able to overclock

The vrm cooling on that board looks pretty decent, don't know what the power delivery is like though.

Not to mention that they're made to handle an i7 at stock, which would be more load than an average OC on the G3258

They wouldn't allow OC if it wasn't safe

This is a signature.

not reommenceded dou

That is based entirely on the board, there are a number of boards that have a power delivery system that would be more than adequate to overclock the 3258 without worrying about throttling or damage. It's only a 50w chip and unless you're doing suicide runs you often wont get past the TDP of the locked i7's that the boards also support.

Ok I checked and it is up to date but I don't know how to go about overclocking it. When I try to change it from 3.2mhz to 4.0mhz I save settings and it just resets back to 3.2mhz

But how do I go about doing it. Every time I change it from 3.2mhz to 4 it automatically changes back to 3.2 its so annoying.
