Ever since my ISP merged with another one my internet speeds have significantly slowed. I'm paying for 10Mb when I only get around 2-4 during the day and about .08 during the night which is utter bullshit. This was NEVER a problem before this new company took over the reliable one we had. I can't load Youtube videos like I use to, I can't play on the PS4 with my friends anymore even though I spent the money on a new ethernet cable, and downloads take half the day even for something little. Some people told me to get a VPN which a hardly know what that is, but when I read about them they said they DON'T help from keeping my ISP from throttling my internet. I've also been told that their could be some latency issues, but it sure is strange that I haven't had it before until now! I've tried contacting my ISP twice and they act as if they have no clue of what's going on. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix the problem? By the way, switching ISP's isn't really an option considering I live out in bumblefuck.

Now, you know what you can expect from these barbarians. They are a race of rabid BASTARDS that will fight us tooth and nail! But they don't know what they're up against. Cyrodiil, is CIVILIZATION! Cyrodiil, is ORDER! Cyrodiil is POWER! And out here, WE. ARE. CYRODIIL.

Give us a speedtest.net AND pingtest.net snip.

Also, VPNs absolutely DO help with ISPs that throttle your download.

What I would recommend is that you call your ISP too, let them know.  If they cant fix it, I suggest you change your package.  When your companies switch the customer migration may have not went well, your account with them could potentially not be reading right to their servers thus not providing your with appropriate bandwidth.

Please spend as much time writing your question, as you want me to spend responding to it.  Take some time, and explain your issue, please!

I'll try calling them again in an hour or so, but they're "aware" of the situation and that "I should be getting a full 10Mb". It's been 3 weeks now since this all started and NO IMPROVEMENT. I will also look into a VPN. Are they cheap? Who provides the best service?

Now, you know what you can expect from these barbarians. They are a race of rabid BASTARDS that will fight us tooth and nail! But they don't know what they're up against. Cyrodiil, is CIVILIZATION! Cyrodiil, is ORDER! Cyrodiil is POWER! And out here, WE. ARE. CYRODIIL.

Get yourself a VPN to see if your ISP really is throttling speeds.

I'm looking into them but I was told that I can't use the VPN on my PS4 so :/

I don't need to use a VPN so I don't have one.  My ISP is kinda amazing.

But there is a article by PCMAG, not a amazing source but still has some creditability.

You can set your VPN up at the router level.

BTW, VPN's shouldn't be a permanent solution for internet issues.  If this is the case you need to call your ISP and threaten legal action.  They are NOT allowed to do this under new FCC rules.  (assuming you live in the USA)

Well once you decide on a VPN, install the client on a computer and VERIFY if that fixes your internet issue.  Once you have determined that it helps, or doesn't, we can proceed from there.
