If you've already got Vegas Pro, then I'd definitely suggest Vegas Movie Studio 13. It uses the same interface and controls as Vegas Pro, and is essentially a lightweight, slimmed-down version for much cheaper. I believe it's about $50 on Steam, but I do see it on sale often. A few people I know use it, and it seems to work very well for them.

I find it hard to believe that it is lightweight, I'll just be using movie maker ;P thankyou though

I don't understand. You have one of the best softwares for clip cutting, and throwing together footage, yet you want to slink backwards into something as useless and primitive as Movie Maker? I thought Vegas Movie Studio would bridge the gap there, and would be exactly what you're after.

Whatever, I suppose. At least one of us cares about quality.

Wanted a lightweight program that has a simple cut feature for low quality recordings. Sony Vegas is a very heavyweight program.

I can do the same thing with both programs, just slightly faster and easier with Movie maker.

With Vegas, I'd have to change my timeline, preview, etc windows layouts and figure out the correct render settings.

I'm not editing a high quality film here, just shortening some low quality game clips.

I understand what you're saying, but sometimes the most expensive multitool in the shed isn't the best multitool in the shed for the job.

Which is why I suggested Vegas Movie Studio for $50.

I can import the footage, cut it down to size, disable resample, and render my footage, all within a matter of 30 seconds. Don't bullshit me with "With Vegas, I'd have to change my timeline, preview, etc windows layouts and figure out the correct render settings."

One: Anybody who knows how to work with videos, even slightly, would know how to properly encode footage. I hope you're not using a default .wmv template inside of Movie Maker.

Two: Vegas' interface doesn't need modified to function properly. I've worked with the default layout for nine years, and the only thing I ever do, and this is just for me, is close the source monitor window, and the levels panel. These are both optional, and they don't hide any of the tools.

Three: With Windows Movie Maker, you won't have access to GPU-Accelerated rendering, which means your encodes are going to take much longer, and turn out a lot worse. You can enable CUDA-based acceleration in Vegas Pro, or even Vegas Movie Studio, and have a one-minute video rendered in 30 seconds.

Four: Don't tell me that Sony Vegas, either Pro, or Movie Studio, aren't lightweight programs. They're easy to use, intuitive, and have a very basic, easy-to-read interface. Compare that to something like Adobe Premiere Pro, or Adobe After Effects. Neither of the Sony Vegas programs are resource-intensive, nor are they difficult to use at all.

The fact you're willing to use Movie Maker is just a joke in and of itself.

Whatever you want to think man, I just needed a simple to use UI as I haven't used vegas in awhile which I disagree with being lightweight.

Clips were already encoded low quality and in a very low graphic quality game.

I simply disagree with you man, yes I could have used Vegas, and would rather not spend $50 for movie studio as Movie Maker is free, all in all probably would have both done the same thing in the same time. Was very late and didn't want to fuss with render settings.

I hope you understand that I simply disagree with you, this doesn't mean I dislike you or disregard your opinion, as many people on the internet think that's what that means.

Thanks for your opinions and I'll keep them in mind for next time!
